I dont know what anyone else thinks but when i watched this film i really hoped that Leon would have stepped in to help when the crooked cop had the little girls family killed so ruthlessly, so pleased at the end when he got whats coming to him, I cant remember who played the bent cop but his performance in a wonderful film was awesome.

Gary Oldman played Stansfield, the cop. Leon is a hitman sure, but not really the baddie of the film. He is the film's protaganist, so I guess you could label as an "anti-hero"?

Any bad character played by Gary Oldman is the best baddie in any film - FACT (IMO of course :D)

Hmmm, as quality an actor as Gary Oldman is, he gives a very hammy performance in this film! Still fun to watch, and a bloody good film otherwise.

I'm not sure what you consider makes for "best", but the thief in "The Cook, the Thief, his Wife and her Lover" is one of the most unpleasant characters ever committed to film. Brilliant (and brave) performance by Michael Gambon.

At the start of the film Leon is little more than a machine, and it simply wasn't in his nature to intervene. It takes little ol' Portman to bring that human side out of him.

The thread title and initial post are delightfully confusing too! :D

Oldman: "Benny... Bring me everyone."
Benny: "W'dya mean... everyone?"
Oldman "EVERYONE!!!!"

:D

That particular bit is easily Youtubed, and Oldman's turn as the cop is probably what made me notice him for the first time.

Leon is a clever film. Portman's performance in it is exceptional, it plays with her sexuality and Leon's attempts to avoid it very bravely.

I watched Leon as soon as it was on DVD, my mum wasn't to keen on the choice of movie, wanting something else instead of guns and violence.
She watched it however and by the time the end credits were rolling, she was in tears and cursing Matilda with god knows how many expletives.:D
