digmusic, you have a lot of valuable information. Thank you for posting. I am at day 53 and I am still pretty sluggish. I agree I must realize that I will not be so "high" all the time as before. However, I just feel like a slug. I just want to know when I will feel better. I want to be able to work out and lose the weight I gained while going off the Adderall, but I am just so fatigued still. I guess the fact that I was on it six years means it's going to take awhile, I just wish I had some estimation. I have heard 1-3 months.

I took Adderall XR for six years and am currently 25 days clean. My dosage was 65-70 mg.

How long until my energy is back and I am feeling "normal" again? Anyone have personal experiences as far as that goes?

Also, how much weight did you gain and does it ever come off naturally? Any thoughts on metabolism?

Thanks, everyone.

I was taking 80 mg a day for a few months. I basically slept and ate a ton for a week straight, but I'm pretty sure I was back to normal energy levels again by day 25. I gained probably 20 pounRAB in a 6 week period, and I only really overate the first week. The rest of that time I ate probably 3-5 small/normal sized meals a day like you're supposed to and I exercised and did yoga and I still gained all that weight. It's just because on adderall I wouldn't eat for 2 days at a time without noticing, your body is in starvation mode, so you gain weight back super quickly even if you eat like, a pea. It evens out though and if you gain more weight back than you like it won't be impossible to lose it or anything. I'd try not to worry too much, 6 years is a long time to be on that and it's good you're finally getting off that legal speed! I got horribly addicted to that stuff very quickly, it was scary. Good luck!

Hello!

You keep hanging in there! You have made it this far. So I have never taken Adderall but after going thru w/d do you suffer from cravings for the drug just like us opiate abusers do?

I have heard that is some nasty stuff and am scared to death because one of my nieces I just found out is on this medication..... I don't know what to do.

Good luck to you and keep posting! I pray you get some energy soon!

Blessings.

digmusic, thank you for your post. I am on day 26 and I feel so lethargic and I can barely tolerate working out since it wears me out so much. Is this normal?

How much longer is this going to go on?

I feel like this is going to take like 5 months and no one is giving me any answers. They can tell people with cancer how long they have to live, or at least within some parameters, but they can't tell me how long until I get my energy back?

Thank you very much. I do not get cravings at all, but I have read about other people getting them. Mostly I feel fatigued and depressed. Good luck to you as well.

Hey Ready

The energy does come back, but in stages, in baby steps. I read that a workout exhausts you. Were you even able to manage a workout 2 weeks ago? We need to learn to judge our progress with an exacting eye. If you have 5 more minutes of energy today than yesterday, then all is going well.

The body does have a miraculous ability to restore itself, but it does take time. Keep at it. In another 26 days you will surely be lots farther along than today. It is all relative.

Stick to it. Be strong. Be hopeful. You will come out of this restored.

Best wishes

I can't say because everyone is very different, different metabolisms affect how long people go through withdrawals, among other factors. Have you read about PAWS? post-acute withdrawal syndrome - this is when you have lingering withdrawal symptoms for months after discontinuing a drug. Lethargy can be involved, but a lot of it is psychological stuff like depression and anxiety and what not. It's hard to say exactly how long it will last, but after 26 days, amphetamines are long gone, but your dopamine levels might still be screwed up. Even if it does take months, it will only get better. I highly doubt you'll still feel this way even in a couple weeks... I know for myself part of the adderall withdrawal was psychological in that I was so used to LOVING to clean and study, for example, because I was smashed and extremely euphoric so it was exciting to organize. Naturally, it's not SUPPOSED to be an intense, euphoric experience to study and have your brain flooded with dopamine... but I was so used to that that going back to doing normal stuff in my natural state seemed terribly boring, empty, depressing.. I felt like I didn't have the energy to do anything. What helped with that for me was sort of mind over matter... I kept reminding myself that sweeping is not supposed to be an ecstatic experience, life is boring sometimes, and just to force myself to do what I needed to do and try to think optimistically. It really does help, and after about 6 weeks I'd say I was used to doing things that require energy without being extremely amped for them.

I have been taking adderall (regular) for 7 years now. It takes about a week to feel normal after stopping use cold turkey. AFter 2 weeks you should be good. As far as the weight goes...yeah you'll go back to the weight you were before you started taking it.

I was on 60mg of the same. I kicked it quite easily and was on it for 2 years though. The WORST was the lethargy. I am quite shocked you're still dealing with this almost 4 weeks later, as I was kicking xanax at the same time. I lost 96 lbs on it and that's why I had to get off of it. I only gained 20 lbs and now am at a low-normal weight. It's funny, 8 months later and I still don't have the same appetite. Why have you not called your doctor? I would also call the pharmacist. To be honest with you, you sound like me. Do you REALLY have ADD or did you take it to lose weight? I took it to lose weight and although I do NOT have ADD, it did help me at work and obviously made me work like I was on speed. It sounRAB like you may have to just ride it out, but the worst (like you mentioned) is the lethargy. I wish you the best!
