Lelouche is a hero...everything he does is heroic and specially the way he puts up with people's hatred towarRAB him to achieve his goal which is not a selfish one IMO...so i guess he is a sad hero that should be respected...
This is what I really like about Code Geass. I think that Lelouch is both a hero and a Villan. Its very interesting to see how he switches back and forth between the two. I do think however that most of the time Lelouch is the hero.
I agree that he flip flops a little bit but having a hero who isn't perfect is why I like him so much hes more believable, and interesting. We all have a capacity to do great good, and an equally great evil, its all about what we decide to do.
Part of the reason he's able to finish the series as with such a selfless act was that he was forced to learn from his mistakes, some of which were so horrid they would completely shatter a regular person. It was exactly because he made such enormous mistakes that he was able to learn from them and ultimately atone for them.
