Everyone knows things are tight. In order to earn a few extra bucks for groceries each month, I was considering holding monthly or bi-weekly art classes for children in my apartment complex.
I practically raised my four sisters on my own and was the first choice babysitter for all my parent's friends so I have tons of experience with kids.
I have a clean record, however I do not have any actual teaching credentials (Feh, I don't think I need a credential to prove I'm an artist anyways!) It would just be for fun and probably held in the complexes recreation area.
Costs would go mostly towards supplies that I would provide for the kids (paper, paints, etc for any other crafts that we might do), with a few dollars going into my pocket.
Each class would probably be two or three hours. I would set aside other things for kids to do as well in case they get bored of drawing as I'm pretty sure I'll have a few of those, maybe some board games or something.
I know I'll need parental permission slips but other than that, are there any major legalities I need to consider? I plan on having it in a public place rather than my home because I don't want any outrageous claims made towards me and I don't want the kids to mess up my apartment.
Would I really need to file for a business license when I'll probably be making about $60-$80/mo on this?
