Legal One Piece Streaming Canceled Indefinitely due to leak (update: uncancelled)

The episode in Japan air at 9:30 AM on Sunday on Fuji TV. Normally for me that is 8:30 PM EDT so the episode should have been available at like 9:00 PM Saturday for me if it were to air.

Yeah, I think as was mentioned before, the extra-long intro seems to have taken the place of the endings.

As for the next ep previews, they're not included with the source video, I think this is because they don't even exist yet when it comes time to translate the episodes. That's just my educated guess, though.

Well, exactly. That's why a sane company doesn't put the episode online until it's supposed to air... you keep it on a server that is not connected to the internet at all and copy it over when it's supposed to go live. But that's not what they did... they uploaded it to the same place all the other episodes were, on a publicly accessible, non-password protected, non-encrypted, http server, in a directly and filename easily guessable from previous episodes. (like, changing a "392" to a "403" sort of easily guessable)... and they did it 24 hours early, just assuming no one would notice or download it.

I will start off by saying subs are my personal preference. That said, they're also faster and cheaper to produce because you're not having to pay English VAs and sync their dialogue to existing mouth movements. I'd settle for buying subs on iTunes or plain licensed DVRAB sent in white disc envelopes to get the show at this point.

Also, is Phantom a big deal? Yes, early leaks are bad but maybe it's not as big a deal to its network in Japan if it leaks. One Piece is sort of franchise material at this point.

Yeah, though the guy who did this is a jerk to the fanbase, I'm hearing more and more that it was actually possible to do this for a while and it was no different from just changing the link name. Though, in FUNi's case, this should just mean "Improve the security" and not "Remove simulcasting forever" unless Toei is just that pissed.

BTW, in case anybody doesn't realize, I'm not going to be happy if I can't finish Phantom because of this. (One....episode...left and this happens)

We don't get to see One Piece simulcasts because some d-bag had to see it a few hours early? Why the hell can't you just wait? Is the desire to get to say "FIRST!" really more important than the series itself?

I`m more pissed because I was lagging on viewing FMAB, and now I can`t see episodes 7 and 8, even though I could have yesterday. argh. Wait, are those on FUNI's YT?

I also heard that people were able to acess Phantom's episodes before they were uploaded as long as three weeks ago due to this "trick" which anyone of reasonable intelligence could figure out. I really, really hate saying it, but Funimation does share a good portion of the blame here, since this exploit was being used long before OP was uploaded.

i`m not excusing the person who uploaded it to BT, as that was truly a dick move, but still..

(If this person was from the UK, I can also see some 'keyword SOME' justification)

Yeah, it's a shame FUNi doesn't seem to be getting the previews. Not that it exactly matters for you, Mr. I-see-the-episodes-before-even-Japanese-kiRAB-do...

(By the way, I'm Yuugi's Black Magician at AP!)

9:30. The simulcast takes place an hour after the Japanese premiere, not as it is ending. In all reality FUNi is at fault for not listening to the fans that told them about the security leak, but the fansubber is responsible for all the choas. FUNi may not like Crunchyroll, but they need to talk to them about the security they have, which apparently is 100* better than FUNi's.

Also, to whomever said only those who have been watching the subn will join in, I'm afraid you are mistaken. I haven't watched any of the fansubbed episodes, but I did watch the two episodes FUNi put out since it was the start of a new storyline.

Yeah, it's been like that ever since "Crazy Rainbow" started up, which I think was episode 284. Not one of my favorite themes, but whatever. For some reason, they did cut the "Next Time on One Piece" Not sure why, since they keep it for FMA: Brotherhood.

This still comes back to Funimation for being idiots to upload the episode to their servers early. To make Funi doublely damned, it sounRAB like they didn't even have a firewall in front of said server. They were just hoping that not listing the html link would be enough. What stupidity.

I don't think you have to worry about One Piece getting cancel in Japan, since it does well in the ratings, continues to sell well as far as the manga goes, and is still popular over there. The matter of discussion here is about the episode being leaked and what affect it could have on the American distribution of the series.

The fact is, these leaks shouldn't be happening at all. Fansubbers have a serious hate-on for FUNi, so getting a secure, leakproof system is the only way this is going to work.

Eh, its not like its easy to stop people from stealing your stuff (if im wrong correct me), give Funi a break, im sure even with the greatest security ever theres still going to be some genius weirdo with too much time on their hanRAB trying to crack the site or something (and eventually succeed).

my own ignorance amazes me, i thought these streams were availiable for all English speaking country's (for some reason).

I'm fairly sure he was referring specifically to the JAPANESE fans not wanting to watch a leaked version with English subtitles when they can understand the Japanese dialog just fine.

Yay, Now I can finally get intersted in the franchise again! Say does anyone know the final episode of One Piece to air on Toonami so I can start from there?
