Yes you read correctly.
I'm dealing with a well known business, that I think is trying to pull a fast one by giving a false story about how a piece of machinery was damaged. I will be buying this piece of machinery. It's real real reaaal coincidental that they have other damaged things in their shop, which all was damaged in a shipment a little while ago. Their story is that what I am purchasing from them (which I am buying, knowing it is damaged), was damaged in an entirely different way, by someone else, somewhere else, but I would guess in the same time period. Well I think they are lying to me. I think that the real story is that they owned this piece of machinery the whole time, shipped it, and was damaged with a lot of other things in a violent way, which might be a bigger problem down the road, and so they try to sell it for more, by making the buyer (me) believe that it wasn't in a really bad accident. Furthermore, this company is saying that they will not disclose to me the "previous owner", but that "You would know immediately who it is if we told you" "We do not want to disclose that information".
And so, my question is: Is that illegal? Can they get away with not telling me the previous owner? Are they the previous owner and this is why they won't tell me the previous owner.. because they are LYING to me?
Listen, I truly need to know this, because this is a very LARGE company that could very well get in a lot of trouble, and if they are lying to me, I would very much like that. I keep being called "Paranoid" by some people, but seriously, this is some real fishy stuff.
