Imagine the workplace - you have a responsibilty to be trained and competent in the equipment provided for Health & Safety issues. Every client is different so should reflect their wishes to maintain their dignity and safety at all times.
If a client has suffered a stroke or has dementia etc., do not assume they are unable to do very much for themselves - treat them as an individual not as one of a group i.e. a client with poor mobility does not necessarily require a wheelchair, just a walking aid and staff assistance whereas, another client may need more input, a hoist etc.
All procedures have to be recorded in the care plan to reference to.
