Has anyone else experienced leg pain (sciatica?) that moves from one part to another? I started having pain in my calf for 3 months or so it was strictly the calf muscle, felt like a pulled tendon, then it moved from the calf to behind the knee, like nerve pain, and would jab and pulsate sorta. Lately, now the pain is further up the leg in the back of the thigh. It's only one leg, and when I'm having the pain, the previous pain area isn't happening, so it's not like the whole leg is ever in pain.

I keep wondering if this is vascular or like a clot or something. also the pain happens when I'm sitting or lying down and trying to stretch it out. That will make it start up or get worse! it used to be stretching helped me, now I don't know what to do.

Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts or similar experience, very frustrating and discouraging, not knowing what the heck is going on the doctors just keep saying sciatica, that seems to be the catch all for leg pain. thanks for listening and hope everyone is as pain free as can be.

I am having the same issue...have not gone to the doctor yet but I am worried I have a clot too. Mine has moved all the way into my groin. I think I am going to go to the doctor tomorrow. Did your doc do a scan for clots on you? Or have you gone to the chiropractor? I am nauseas too but I am wondering if that is just anxiety.

Mine started with a charlie horse in my foot and then a cramp in my calf that eventually went behind my knee and then thigh and now groin.

Let me now if you find anything out about yours and I will let you know what my doc says too. I think I might try the chiro after the doctor checks me out.

Good luck

Not sure if you are going to read my other post so I was going to tell you that I went to the doctor and she thinks mine is muscular. She said she def did not think it was a clot so I was happy about that but she also does not think it is either sciatica so...she wants me to see my physical therapist for some stretches. If that does not work I am going to the chiro.

Anything changed with you?

no mine is still the same. I think mine feels more like nerve pain...which is almost impossible to cure or treat.

Good luck with your stretching and chiro, hope he helps you. I have some serious back issues, so a chiropractor would not be a good thing for me.

guess I'll just muddle along, if anything new happens let me know!

I have been dealing with sciatica since 2004 and my heart goes out to you because it can be extremely painful and sometimes hard to find the culprit.

Have you had an MRI or CT scan or EMG?

You can look up dermatones and see the normal path of the nerves as they run from the spine and down into your toes. Your toes could be coming from L5, large toes from L4, calves from s1, bottom of foot L5, side of foot s1, etc.

Just keep in mind that not everyone nerves follow the dermatone pathways. We have found this to be true in my case due to a spinal birth defect.

My pain typically follows the thigh, skips the calves, hits the side of the foot and goes into the toes and bottom of the foot. Sometimes it will tingle, other times it feels like a toothache, shooting pains, or will actually feel like buzzing. I have been told that the pain varies according to the incomplete/interrupted nerve impluses/signals.

Good luck and I pray that you find some relief soon. It can be extremely frustrating and painful.

Anything new with your leg pain? Mine is still bothering me, have not had a chance to go to the chiro yet but I have been stretching and my back is starting to hurt me now which I guess makes sense.

Let me know how you are doing...

It does honestly sound like sciatic pain. My pain started 6 months ago and was only in my left groin. It didn't hurt unless I stood up from a sitting position, or bent forward, and then it was excruciating. Since then, it has spread to my left buttocks, down my left leg, and in my lower back. A lot of times it doesn't all hurt at the same time. Some days my pain is more in my back, some days more in my leg, but there are days when it is every where, and sometimes down both legs.
I would maybe ask for an x-ray or MRI, because if it is sciatic pain, then something is going on to cause that pain. Sciatic pain can be very misleading, and there are many things that can cause it. I was told many things by doctors, from it being a muscle strain to having a sore back from being a mother. I also tried the whole chiropractic route, and was told by her that my legs were different lengths which was causing the problem. I was told by a massage therapist that it was because my hip flexors are tight. I later found out that I have a fracture in my L5 pars which is causing one of my vertebrae to slip out of place, once I finally ended up in Urgent Care and they preformed an x-ray. When the pain was only in my groin, I never would have even imagined it was caused by something like that. Also, had I known sooner, I NEVER would have let a chiropractor touch me.
So, it's worth getting checked out.

The same here, similar pain since 2000. The last 6mos have been very painfully that I can not walk a 1/4 of mile without stopping due to pain. After two MRI, I am going for a Myelogram because they can't not pinpoint out my problem. You better try all possible ways to remove pain before surgery. And if surgery is your last alternative, get two or three doctor opinions for the type of surgery the want to perform and why?
