I applied for financial aid: The FAFSA. If you're a dependent of your parents, the amount of money you get from the government is based off of your parents' income. I'm 22 and living completely apart from my parents, so I went off of my income. HOWEVER, you need to be 24 to be truly considered independent regardless that I"m independent of my parents.
So I didn't expect to get any money, even after applying anyway. So I decided to start taking cheap classes one at a time, to afford it. (WA state is SO expensive) I spent 90 on a one credit class. No big deal for me. The in the middle of the quarter, I get a check from the financial aid for 460 dollars. Awesome, but confused. It would be unwise to say, no thanks, I don't need this now. So I went to the F.A. office, and said, what do I do with this? She said, deposit it. So I did. Is this money really just... mine?
Oh yeah, and the financial aid clerk said that this check only applied to this quarter, (It had the word: pell written on it) so it's not like I could just use it for the next quarter. But how on earth would they know I'm using tis money for one quarter or another if it's just in my own bank account, see what I'm saying?? So confused.
