Left arm tingles/falls asleep

:confused:For the last month or so I have had my left arm feel like it falls asleep/ tingles from the shoulder down to my pointer finger and thumb. It happens when I am doing things such as lifting a garbage bag, writing something down, on the computer have my arm straight at my side. It happens all the time. Went to the doctor they say tennis elbow. I looked online but I really dont think it is that because it isn't painful. I am a housekeeper at a hospital so when I am lifting things heavy feels like I have to drop the garbage bags or linen bags. I don't know what to do. Should I go see an orthopedic doctor?

Thanks in advance,
Melissa

Do you carry a heavy purse on your left shoulder? That could be the cause. I had to lighten mine considerably because I was having that same problem. Carried a lighter purse in my hand for a couple of weeks and it went away.

Go ask your doctor about multiple sclerosis MS. It might be a possibility. That was my first thought when I read your post.

So what did the doctor say for you to do about it? I am guessing it is something along the lines of carpal tunnel/tennis elbow without the pain. If you are looking for a second opinion then go to a sports clinic that deals with those types of injuries all the time and can pinpoint the nerves with a simple electrical impulse testing device that can see what nerves are involved and some exercises to help alleviate the problem.
