I leave for MCRD Parris Island in September for the normal 3 months it takes to earn the title U.S. Marine. This has been my only aspiration for the past 4 years of my high school career and I am so ready to finally go. However, 2 months ago I met my girlfriend and we've been happily together and really close. We broke up once when she thought it would be easier for both of us when I leave, but got back together a day later when we both felt strongly that breaking up was the wrong thing to do.
With the generation today, and all that comes along with it (cheating, lying, deceit) I just feel things will change. We are true to each other and I will never lie or cheat on her. I feel that this relationship can actually go somewhere because we do everything together and are even going on vacation this summer. I know time is the true test to everything, I just have such strong feelings for her and just tears to think of us breaking up.
I am sure this is without a doubt, a problem that a lot of military men face and just wanted to get the view of someone who has gone through this.
