Least scary horror films?

:o I really enjoyed the messengers, Kristen Stewart may have swayed my opinion though.

I saw "the Thing" only recently and was surprised when it was classed as a Sci Fi horror - I'm quite a scaredy cat but there was nothing in it that was thrilling or scary. It may have been that the age of the film made it a little less effective for me.

Although Sean Bean was in it I didn't find the new version of the Hitcher very scary like it was advertised but enjoyed it all the same for the action.
 
I'd say the remake of the Wicker Man is another non eerie,non atmospheric modern "horror".

Add to that some very hammy acting and terrible dialogue.
 
So you weren't :eek: at all those alien incarnation things.

The Thing's a fantastic film, I know it's not really scary in the jump every five minutes sense (though the contaminated blood scene gave me a massive shock when I saw that) but it's so atmospheric which a lot of newer horrors don't do very well at all.

All those daft Friday The 13th films like Jason in space, Jason in Manhatten or whatever they were called are totally unscary.
 
Films like The Others and the Orphanage fall flat as horror films for me, and neither did I find them very creepy, though I wouldn't say they were crap films, just not in the least bit scary.
 
Can think of a few off the top of my head some which no doubt people will agree on and others that people will probably slag me off for.

Funny Games US bored me to death. Cube whilst an interesting idea lacked any kind of suspense thus it was boring. And now for the two that will likely make me a hated man. The Blair Witch Project, I found it so completely boring and void of any suspense sorry but a few scruffy idiots going into the wooRAB and then jumping every time they hear a noise is not scary. And probably the biggest shocker as so many say it is the best horror of all time The Exorcist, I have watch both cut and uncut versions and was not the least bit phased by them. No scares at all, in fact I found myself laughin at how badly funny it was.
 
I wasn't sure if it was just me comparing it to the original, but yes, the new Wicker Man was pretty dire in every respect. At least it didn't end the way I was half expecting though, with some bullshit Nick Cage saves the day twist.
 
To tell you how funny The Exorcist is the worst cuss in the entire film "Your mother sucks cocks in hell" a friend of mine said that at a wedding in a church when the priest asked if there were any objections to the couple being married. His wife had to apologize and make out he had tourettes.
 
LOL.

It is my favourite cuss line, perhaps one of the best lines in any film.

I used to say that line to the rest of the staff when we had awkward customers at our shop - 'You know what her mother does - in hell!':D

When the little boy ran behind the sofa from left to right the audio of his steps ran through the back speakers from left to right too. I was sitting in between the speakers at the time on my sofa and nearly jumped out of my skin.
 
The Others wasn't really billed as a horror though was it?

More of a supernatural chiller with a great twist at the end.

I liked it anyway.

The worst horror I have seen is Pulse. A 1988 film that was on ITV a few years ago and NOTHING happened. Just electricals went a bit funny but no one dies!
 
Unfortunately it's classed as a 'horror', which it isn't. As you say, it was more a 'supernatural' story but I guess these sub-genres all just gets shoved in the same box. It reminded me of one of those Hammer House of Horror stories.
 
'Do you know what she did, your c*nting daughter?' is by far my favourite.

I didn't find the Dark Water remake remotely scary, Night Stalker was equally bad and any of the other Final Destinations after the first.
