I'm now on my umpteenth driving lesson and am confident enough to push my speed up to 30mph and have even been on a couple faster roads at 40mph. But I get confused when I'm doing 30mph on an inner city road and 5 or 6 cars still over take me and whizz by. Am I right to maintain the speed limit even if it seems to hold up every other car on the road ?

hi 17pdr. just keep in mind that the speed limit is the speed limit. it is limited for a reason. make your own decisions for yourself because if you get caught speeding you cant use the excuse that the traffic behind wanted to go faster! trust the knowledge you get from the highway code not anyone else

Yes the speed limit is there for a reason. To go too slow say 30mph on a 50mph road is also dangerous. Just remember as the learner your going to be the one with the fine and points on your licence if you speed.

Keep to the speed limits - the other idiots are in a race to put themselves and others in the nearest hospital!

Yes - you must get into the habit of always maintaining the speed limit.

If not, you'll end up failing your test.

Stick to the 30 mate. Dont let them push you into getting a £30 fine and 3 points on your licence which will in turn put your insurance up! Plus its been proven that driving steadily and not thrashing the guts out of the motor makes the fuel consumption much better as well. All in all, think of the money your saving!
