League of extraordinary Gentlemen

Yeah, it's OK. It's certainly not a total disaster either. It's got some good stunts, twists and jokes, and is nowhere near as bad as, say, 'The Avengers'. The most obvious thing about it though is that Sean Connery must have took up too much money and attention, and this has slightly detracted from the film in that the rest of the 'league' aren't exactly top names and some of the FX and sets are occasionally a bit dodgy. 6/10.

rubbish, crass, putrifying cack, drivel.

the storyline is pathetic. the characters generate no interest, after 20 minutes of this you really won't care what happens to them. the action sequences are so chaotically directed that you can't tell what the hell's going on. it contains the most pathetic attempt at a twist in the tale that i've ever seen (believe me, by the time it happens you really won't care less). the attempts at humour are not remotely funny (it's not even 'so bad it's good' funny, it's just plain dull). i can't think of any redeeming features for this film.

in a word... moribund.

I quite enjoyed this, but I did find the gratuitous addition of an American (grown up Tom Sawyer) a bit irritating.

Captain Nemo wasn't quite right lookswise either - dressed as a Sikh, but with Hindu trappings all over the ship and as for the patently false beard...!

The characters were otherwise fairly close to the comic.
