What do you think the stereotypical role is of female in films?

What are the stereotypes for women in action adventure roles?

Also comedy, period etc...

Mediastudent1 - you need to ask MEDIASTUDENT. He has more information that any of us now. :p

In Tomb Raider she's independent and can kick men's arses, but she's also shaggable (though I think Jolie looks like a fish - nothing to do with Shark Tale).

In Alien, she's intelligent, decisive and questions things, as well as being physically fit.

Women in kung-fu movies, apart from lead roles like Ziyi Zhang or Michelle Yeoh, are skilled but always need help from the lead male.

Women in modern fairytales are just as intelligent and/or strong as the men, so that the film's female audience is not belittled and can see the character as a heroine.

In romantic comedies women are seen as equal, if not better than the male lead. In gross-out comedies, women are hot and kind of independent, but are not generally given enough scripted screen-time.

Period dramas feature obedient women on the whole, who when not in the company of men, act normal, and let their hair down. It's all a scam in the period pieces, because that's apparently what society was like. Showing your ankles was the 21st equivalent of getting your knockers out.

I'm your lecturer. If you plagiarise my work, I will have you ejected from the University.

Sorry but they need to be in two different threaRAB as we are two different people and doing two different exam questions. also i am asking for a general overview of lead female roles in all different genres and MEDIASTUDENT is looking at only Action/Adventure films.
sorry for the confusion like and thanks for any new posts made :)

NO lol im not i need to get an overview of what other people think about females leading roles, and so one way to get first hand accounts is to use a forum.
Thanks :)
