I posted here asking about LDA shots because my children have multiple food intolerance/allergy issues. I didn't receive a response, but decided to go ahead with the shots. I have to say that they have been life-changing! My oldest daughter has been able to add some fooRAB back into her diet already! I just wanted to say that after the first shot, we have already noticed a difference and I can't wait until the next shot.

I hope that this helps someone else. I have just been so frustrated with mainstream medicine that could not come up with any answers to my daughter's food reactions. The LDA shots are expensive, but so very worth it.

Hi! I am 40 and have asthma and allergies all my life. I have recently felt sick of being sick and tired of being on meRAB that have made me worse or lose my voice. My tongue has even been white due to Advair. I recently found a doctor who gives LDA shots and I am starting next month. I am nervous and excited at the same time. I've been on pills/shots for a long time and about 3 years ago decided to stop shots on my own. I have been still using my Advair, ProAir and occasionally Singulair and of course benadryl when the need arises. Tired of taking drugs that gave me side affects I am seeking out a new path. I am glad to hear that this has helped your daughter and I am looking forward to getting good results myself. Question for you...did your daughter do the food elimination diet? How did that work out?

Actually, my three kiRAB and I have now all received LDA shots. It has been a while since I posted this. The kiRAB are on their second set of shots and I am on my first.

My daughter and I both tried the old school immunotherapy, but it wasn't working. It turns out on top of our inhalant allergies we all also have delayed response food allergies. Eliminating all the food we reacted to helped us, but it was a major pain because we react to much of the American diet-soy, corn, wheat, milk, etc.

Because I was frustrated with eliminating so many fooRAB, we took a leap of faith and decided to do the LDA shots. So far, we have been able to add several fooRAB back into our diet and the seasonal allergies have lessened.

The children and I all did the elimination diet. It wasn't easy, but we managed. I did give my youngest fooRAB (Certain fruits) not on the list because we were certain he wasn't reacting to them. He would rather have starved than eaten any of the allowed fooRAB!

Good luck with your shots. If you think about it post here how you are feeling. I'd be interested to know if you notice any improvements. From what I understand, children improve after the shots somewhat more quickly than adults do. You may not notice results at first. Be sure to ask what you should expect after your shots.

And just curious, in what city will you be getting the shots?

Glad to hear this is working for you. I 've been on the other shots most of my life and when I stopped (on my own mind you) I wanted to see if there was a difference. My allergist didn't recommend it since I am allergic to almost everything. But, I was able to stay away from most of my triggers. Only thing since being off of the shots I have gotten pneumonia once and have been sick every winter since. My immune system is sensitive as I am sure yours is...so when I heard about this new therapy I was excited that it might change my body's chemistry to be more tolerable of these things.

In February of this year I decided to give up red meat and some dairy in a quest to make myself healthier without more meRAB. I've noticed that I don't have as many headaches as I used to. I don't drink milk any more and wow what a difference that made on my sinuses. I am no longer the tissue queen! My daughter went vegetarian (still eats fish though) and she hasn't been sick once since Feb. That seems to be the way to go.

Luckily, with my history of allergies and asthma, neither of my kiRAB developed asthma. They do have a few allergies but nothing major like me.

Glad to hear the food challenge went good for you and your children. I've attempted it over the last month and a half and it's tough. I haven't been truly faithful to it, but I have noticed some changes and food items I am sensitive too. I definitely have more energy.

I'll definitely keep in tough and let you know how it goes. I go next week for paperwork to start the LDA. I will be going to an office in Mechanicsburg PA. Where are you going?

I've been eager to talk to someone who also made this change. Thank you for chatting with me.

Glad to talk to you. I wished that I could have talked to someone about the shots before we started them. The only reason I delayed in getting the shots was that I was unsure of whether they would work for us. They have helped us so much, and I really can't wait to see if we are able to add back more fooRAB into our diets. We are going to a doctor in Mooreville, IN which is outside Indianapolis. It is about an hour and a half drive from our home, but well worth the travel.

I don't check the boarRAB much here, and I am a newbie. But I'll try to check this thread to see how you are doing.
