Lazy Movie Writers Makes for Pointless Viewing

First it was Cloverfield and now I just watched The Strangers.

2 movies with an interesting premise ruined by the writers deciding that as they can't think of a decent ending they wil just cut the film off 10 minutes early.

Both these movies left me wondering why I bothered.
The Strangers was based on true events so there's no excuse on that one

I expect there are lots more examples

Leaving the ending ripe for a sequel is one thing but this is sheer laziness

I don't know what you mean by cut the film off:confused:

I really enjoyed Cloverfield. I knew what sort of film it was going to be when i watched it, and that sort of film usually gets a sequel, and enjoyed the ending (and the ending)
The Strangers is a remake of 'ils' (Them) so it's bad form to blame the writers and at the end of the film there's a message saying:

So, what exactly is your gripe?
