Lazy Fucking Teacher

I need to rant, just blow off some steam before I explode and try to find out where this teacher lives so I can go punch him in the face for taking my money and fucking up my education.

This is for my math class (Finite Mathematics) in college. So far we've had two big assignments, both of which I wasn't able to complete and couldn't get any feedback from the teacher to help me figure out what I was doing wrong (he wouldn't respond to any of my questions.) I posted my incomplete assignments and, amazingly, got 25/30 for them. But instead of telling me what I got wrong and how I messed it up, he just gave me the answer key to each assignment and said "check the answers for your challenged questions." What the fuck!?! Aren't teachers supposed to provide feedback to help you figure out what the fuck you're missing?

So now we have a test over what we've been "learning" (more like he assigned us reading and assignments and doesn't communicate in any other fucking way) for the past two weeks.

First, the test was posted as an attachment. When the attachment is opened almost all of the data needed to answer the questions was in wingdings (symbols like folders, computer icons, etc). So a couple of us posted about it. What does he do? He copies and pasts the text from the fucked up attachment into a post. So now we have the test free of wingdings.... only it doesn't have all the data needed to answer the questions.
Such as:
Write the augmented matrix for the system. Do not solve.
8) 4x - 2y = 14
-2y = -2
8) _______
A) B) C) D)


Yeah, I can answer the question, but the multiple-choice answers are blank, so which one do I fucking choose? And knowing this asshole, he'll just look at which letter I picked (if any) and score it right or wrong.

So I write to the teacher and say "these questions are missing the information needed to complete the assignment" and I list the questions.

what does he come back with? "You need to talk to tech support to get help with the attachment." How about no, you fucking idiot? It's not a problem with me, my computer, or attachments? It's a problem with your fucking attachment and how you decided to save the piece of shit on your computer. How about you expend a minimal effort to make sure you're fucking students (who are fucking paying you to teach them, i might add) have what they need to do their work?

I've tried calling my academic counselor twice (left messages both times) and have yet to hear back. Meanwhile, this test is due to be completed today and I can't do jack shit on it. Of course, I could just post the incomplete test, get another B, and continue on the way I am, but I want to fucking learn something in this goddamned class.

I'm so pissed and frustrated at this fucking teacher it makes me want to cut down the rainforest just so global warming will kill this lazy ass fuck!

That sucks, Tostig! Is there a way you can just post the answers to him? Don't circle the ones that are blank but just give him the answers you have come up with. I'm sure he knows how to match the letters with the answers. What a dingbat! You do need to complain about this teacher. That he's not keeping up his end of the school work. He's not making sure the lessons are taught right nor the tests are legible. If he was any good at his job, he'd be concered that his students are not understanding his tests. He's not proofreading his own work to make sure the tests and other assignments are understandable and correct.

You are right...a lazy teacher can not a teacher be.
 
From what I see, you're a dedicated student.. You're getting a B out of the class and yet you feel that you aren't learning. That means you actually want to be there and want to learn, not too many people feel that way towards school..

I think once you talk with your academic counselor, you'll probably get something out of that teacher.. It seems as if that teacher does not want to be there and doesn't care enough about his students who are struggling to learn or having problems with a test.. He should be kicked out man..

Thanks Bitch :) I'm doing the work as much as I can and answering the questions (just writing in the answers that don't have the multiple choices with information in them). Hopefully he can match them up, but I'm not counting on it. Some of the questions that are supposed to list data for me to use to solve the proper equations don't have that data, so there's no way to figure them out. I'm just writing "Not enough information" in those answer spaces.

It's due at midnight, so I'll give him until then to provide me with the rest of the data needed.

But thanks for the sympathy. It makes me feel better I'm not alone in thinking he's failing at being a teacher.

The other odd thing about the college Tostig is attending is that most of the Instructors are volunteers from various large Corporations, not full time teachers. Methinks this particular Instructor signed up for the position in order for it to be shown on his/her resume, and not to actually teach.

Hopefully the college will learn to screen volunteers in a more efficient manner, and that this person is never, ever selected again.
 
Just a minor correction; they ARE businesspeople that sign up to teach, but they get paid for it. It's a second job and they need to do it.
 
Yes, i'm double posting. sue me ;)

I called tech support for the school. The tech couldn't find a resolution so called tier 2 tech support. They had the same problem and couldn't resolve it. So, on my request, the support supervisor is going to take the issue to the instructor liason (I mentioned I wasn't the only student with the problem and that the teacher isn't listening to us) and they'll see if they can get the instructor contacts and set straight.

Maybe I'll get lucky and they'll fire the teacher and give us a new one.
 
it sounds like the technology aspect of teaching is giving your prof some trouble and rather than admit he is lost on how to solve it, he is silent and hopes someone else will fix it. you seem to have some people on his trail though.

as for the questions that are giving you trouble(and you have all info needed) you might try this site. MMB there are some brilliant guys/girls on there that love to help people that want to help themselves. give them the problem and your thinking on it, how far you've gotten and they are pretty helpful. you don't have to register and it's painless.

don't you just love math?
 
Make sure you document everything. That way you can show that you did everything you could but that the teacher failed to respond properly to your requests. Calling tech support was the right thing to do since that is what the teacher told you to do. Now it's back in his court.

I gather this is online? Not a physical school? There should be some way to report this. But, you can also contact the Attorney General in your state and the state where this vritual school is located. Again, document everything. Contacting and filing a complaint with the Attorney General is usually all it takes for the other party to start jumping through hoops. There should also be some sort of Accedemic board, but I don't have information on that. You should be able to search on that though.
