Chaaaaness!

I am getting a 53" flat screen plasma tv from my parents and need to get it with a van. I know for sure it will not have room to stand up. I will either have to lay it diagonally or completely flat (on it's back, probably with screen facing the roof of the van.)
I read some mixed reviews on google. Some do lay it down, some do not but then again, im assuming those were brand new in box!
This one is USED with NO BOX
Have any of you done this? If so, what did you do? Thanks
