Yes! To be guilty of defamation, you have to say something about somebody that is not true, and you must do it with the intent of harming that person. That's the law, and I think it is reasonable. There is, however, a loophole of sorts, it makes it very difficult for a celebrity to win a defamation suit due to having to reach a higher level of proof than a common citizen.
