Late Show with David Letterman (Part 2)

Our (other!) fave site seems a bit hit-and-miss at the mo. regarding "Dave"!:(
FIVE missing eps this month (not including a week of re-runs next week) and three missing last month!
Some decent absent guests too-
Regis,Bruce Willis.
Pull yourself together LB-We appreciate your time and effort, but- must do better!

mornin'

thanks for this Paul

tried watching Darlene live on TVU player just now, but the damn thing kept crashing (wish they'd test the updates before releasing them :( )

good show :) cheers Paul.

Fair enough. i like Craig. Don't think he's as good as Dave, but different strokes and all that.

Of course he did. He testified in front of a Grand Jury. It was then always going to come out. Better that it came 'straight from the horses' mouth' than reported in tabloiRAB. What I meant was I don't understand people taking the moral high ground and saying that they're refusing to watch Letterman's shows anymore. He had an affair, or a few affairs. He's not broken the law. I fail to see exactly how this impacts on his ability to do his job.

I can understand people saying they'd never listen to a Gary Glitter record again. Or people railing against Roman Polanski. But Letterman? He's a talk show host. He's not a politician who's preached family values (cf Senator Larry Craig) or a Governor who, when he was an attorney, launched a moral crusade against prostitution who was later found out to be using prostitutes. These people are worthy of scorn. As indeed is the man who's stolen private documents from his girlfriend and used them to start an extortion attempt.

Sorry if this is rambling, I've been to the pub. :o

I used to watch streams of Letterman on tv link, then surfthechannel. Unfortunately all the links of late are US only. And I've been able to watch the monologue and certain guest spots on the CBS site but it isn't the same!

Could I be so bold as to ask what sites you guys use to download the show?

After what NBC and Leno did, I bet Dave is smiling from ear to ear.

"I knew it wouldn't last!!!" Howard Stern ( in 2009 on the BIG Show,on Leno hosting the Tonight Show.)

I was sad when I heard about this today. Dave's actions are both shocking and inexcusable. Sort of puts into perspective the huge furore over here about Jonathan Ross being partly responsible for leaving a rude message on an elderly gentleman's answerphone. Compared to this, it's trivial at best. At least this actually warrants being called a "scandal" and the level of coverage it is getting.

The Late Show is a great programme but I'm afraid to say Dave himself has gone way down in my estimation after this. I feel so letdown I might have to start watching Conan.

Speaking rather bluntly here ... to hell with Sky! I'd sooner download Letterman or Conan from
certain unofficial sources, than line the overflowing pockets of Murdoch's Money Vultures ... !

I think he proved he could take it didn't he? Hell, he spent most of the week's shows after the 'scandal' ripping the piss out of himself. But it died down and everyone moved on.

Apart from Jay, who was still going on about it last week in his monologues.

Think you're right Mark - Leno's humour is a lot cosier and safer than Dave's, and appeals to Middle America more which is, without wishing to generalise, very conservative. I think that's why he'll always be ahead in the 11.30 ratings. Don't understand it myself, as I've watched Jay a few times and he doesn't appeal at all to me.

He more or less gave Sarah Palin a free run last night and didn't challenge her on anything. I can't really imagine Dave doing that somehow - for all his talk about how he's "just a dumb guy", his political interviews are very sharp indeed.
