By the way, just to make everyone on this thread REALLY jealous, tomorrow, I am flying over to Minneapolis for good, as I am returning back to my husband, and so, from Tuesday onwarRAB, I will have the priviledge of actually watching Dave on TV every weekday evening for the rest of my life!!!!:D:D:D:D:D:D

Fingers crossed. If there's one channel I'd trust to show Letterman properly (not like Diva TV or ITV4), it would be CBS.

Just playing catch-up and watched the Madonna interview - what a great show! Thought she was really funny and had some good banter with Dave.

Particularly liked the Oprah-like procession to the pizza restaurant - I went to that very restaurant back in 2000 when it was Joe G's Pizza! (Joe G was the guy who used to put the pizza on the Christmas Tree - had a chat with him and he's a lovely guy).

Good news about Colbert and Stewart. ^

Guess who went to a Late Show taping yesterday... http://twitpic.com/1hcdos - none other than Chris Moyles. He talked about it on the Radio 1 show this morning as he's broadcasting from there, because he's stuck without flights. I'll try and get an audio clip up on my website later tonight - lots of publicity for the Late Show in the UK which is always a good thing, and look at the comments on that Twitpic page. :)

i just watched that this afternoon. yeah, good interview.

Kimmel isn't in competition with letterman, though, is he? different time slots.

Oh and by the way i just re-watched the Late Night intro and the name of the bar is on a neon sign outside the place before the camera goes in - i should have watched it better. oops!

Well, Dave did say it was a fake check, so theres no way ANY bank would process it anyway, after doing all the usual endorsing processes that an American bank does cos they have far more up-to-date modern technology than, say our banks do!!!!

Maybe the fake check was a way of catching this guy out!!!

Jimmy Kimmel Live is in (partial) direct competition with the Late Show, yes.

JKL airs at 12:05/11:05c and the Late Show airs at 11.30pm ET/PT.

I get confused with American times though - is 12:05 (mentioned on the JKL website) the same timezone as 11.30pm mentioned on the Late Show website?

In any case it's only reruns on the Late Show this week so I don't suppose Dave is worried, and Paul said in the JKL interview that Dave was happy for him to appear on the JKL.

I've been working my way through the shows most nights this week. :)

I was surprised when I started watching the 28th Sept episode and heard a woman reading out the opening titles "It's the Late Show..." - Alan Kalter was off for Yom Kippur, as was Paul Shaffer. The announcer was the same woman they always use I think (The Wahoo Gazette says it was Monica Trombetta). Lots of lineup changes for that show as Bruce Kapler was still off ill.

Kelsey Grammer on the 29th Sept episode was great. :) Seems like a nice guy.

The 30th Sept Madonna episode I watched a while back, and the same with the 1st October show for obvious reasons. ;)

Watched the 2nd October episode tonight with Larry David - he's hilarious. :) I do think that must have been taped on a Friday though (and not the usual Monday taping for a Friday show) as there seemed to be distinct references to Dave's 'going-ons'.

I now only have two weeks of shows to catch up on then I'm up to date.

Wow, at this rate I might even be able to delve into my 1990s episodes that I downloaded ages and ages ago! :D

Did Carson own his show? It might be part of his estate and owned by his beneficiaries. I think he did own it didn't he? It might have been in 'The late Shift' where i read about that. It caused NBC problems so they decided emphatically that the new Tonight Show (in 1993) should be owned by the network.

Or i could be making it up.
