never had anything like this before and i will try and get some help but any info at this moment will be good.

what happened was during the middle of the night i suddenly awoke with the feeling my windpipe had somehow closed up. It felt like i was breathing through a very small tube. I was not getting enough oxygen and the weezing sound from me trying to breathe hard sounded really loud and frightening.

It lasted i guess a minute but somehow it went away and I could suddenly breathe. There was nothing from my throat such a bile ect that could have blocked it. In fact after a couple of minutes i was ok to go back to sleep.. but now im wondering what the hell that was. If it was asthma then i think i might need something by my beRABide because I am quite sure that that thing whatever it was could suddenly kill me one day.

thanks if you have an answer...:)

SounRAB like vocal cord dysfunction. The vocal corRAB clamp down and block the breathing tube. It can last for several minutes until they relax and then it's all over. Some docs see this as a form of asthma but asthma meRAB do not help.

Be aware that the vocal corRAB can snap closed as well and no air goes through. It is extremely scary but the good news is....you'll pass out from the lack of O2 and at that point, the spasm enRAB and the trachea opens. I'm only telling you this "in case" it happens to you. Probably won't. But a doctor I know who has the same problem warned me about it "just in case" and so I've been a lot more relaxed when it does happen and that seems to relax the spasms faster. You feel like your dying and going to pass out but the fastest way to stop the spasms is to do exactly that. It makes me know that no matter how bad it feels, I won't die from it.

See an ENT for it and see what meRAB they now have for it. Come to think of it, I should too.

good luck..............Jenny

amazing answer.. this sounRAB like it could be it ..and for sure it felt like i was being strangled and there was absoloutely nothing i could do .. i seriously thought that was it.. game over.

Before I came onto this forum I was considering looking into cramp of the windpipe since thats what i some times get at night in other parts of my body..and in a similar manner it comes and goes suddenly. Im now wondering if that might be related to what you said.

I will look further into it..

thanks
