This movie is disturbing and not the kind of film you should watch if you are of a nervous disposition. Personally, I think it is a pile of crap, and Wes Craven (creator of Freddy Krueger) and Sean S Cunningham (creator of Jason Voorhees) are behind it, you might want to check it out if you are into shock and ultra violence cinema, not my cuppa mocha.
THANK GOD! Finally someone who agrees with me on LHOTL... Every where you turn recently people are saying "Oh, the fantastic Last House on the Left is coming out on DVD" and its starting to p*ss me off, as it seems you can't disagree with th opinion that its (quote from SexGoreMutants website) "one of the most important modern horror films" without being abused!!

I wouldn't go as far as to say this film is a "pile of crap". I didn't dislike the film but due to the films overall content I can hardly say that it's an enjoyable film. It's not meant to be enjoyable film. There are parts in the film that are degrading to women (however the BBFC insisted that some of the scenes were deleted) and the violence in the film is shocking - it's meant to be. The violence looks like it is in real life - disturbing, not in the way that Hollywood glamourises violence by showing people being shot and beaten up and making it exciting and entertaining. This film is still as powerful now as it was 30 years ago so I guess the only way is to watch the film and decide for yourself.
I own both versions: the uncut region 1 dvd, and the edited double uk disc which also contains the alternate cut of the film titled "Krug & Company" and there is an interesting booklet with the uk disc with notes by Mark Kermode.

31 seconRAB have been cut - from three scenes... including a key scene in which the villian scratches his name into a woman's chest with a knife, if its missing people are gonna wonder WTF is going on when she turns up all blood-soaked!
