Here's my week, a revisiting of a few old artists.

01. Eminem - 56 plays

I finally gave in and downloaded a copy of "Relapse" that had been sitting in my inbox on another forum for a while now. I can't say I was overly impressed on the first listen, but after I decided to grab "Encore" and "The Eminem Show" again it began to make sense.

02. Input - 49 plays

I've had "A Radio With Guts" for a few months now and have really liked it, and I've been listening to a lot of Sadistik lately and the two really sound alike so I went looking for the rest of his discography, downloaded it and listened to it contently.

03. Devin Townsend - 47 plays

C'mon, you'd expect a week to go by without him on my top 15? Dream on nyuaka. I don't even have to explain it anymore.

04. MC Chris - 32 plays

Say what you will about his voice or bizarre song topics, the man can make a pretty dope beat. His skits are also pretty funny, but yeah, I think I have to give it another few listens before I make a definitive decision as to whether or not I should look up more stuff by him.

05. Gogol Bordello - 30 plays

Listened to both their albums one day after school, I go through phases where I really can't get enough of these guys. I caught them at Warped Tour in 2006 and they were easily worth the price of admission.

06. Dub Trio - 24 plays

These guys opened for Matisyahu last Monday and I was completely blown away. Never before had I heard instrumental stoner/drone metal mixed with reggae and dub influences before. It went really well and I immediately went out and got their discography.

07. Common Market - 22 plays

I got an EP of theirs back in February and I really liked it, but it never blew me away to the degree that I had to rush out and try and find the rest of their stuff. I can honestly say I was bored one day and decided that I wanted more stuff by them. I like what they have to say and that they're from the Pacific Northwest, but their production value leaves much to be desired.

08. Dan Le Sac Vs. Scroobius Pip - 22 plays

I really love these guys, Scroobius Pip is a seriously underrated MC. He can write some incredibly intelligent and thoughtful lyrics, and deliver them flawlessly. His DJ Dan Le Sac also creates some pretty interesting beats, focusing more on the electro element, but also adding bits of noise rock, in fact one song seriously sounRAB like it's Sonic Youth in the background.

09. Hypocrisy - 21 plays

Probably my second favourite Swedish death metal band after Opeth. I love the fact that Peter T

Last 7 days:

1. Skinny Puppy (38)
If Last.fm had charted my music listening since my early teens, Skinny Puppy would be topping the charts by a hundred miles.

2. Plaid (31)
One of my favorite IDM acts. Their latest release, a soundtrack for the Japanese film Heaven's Door, is flipping amazing and as the title implies, heavenly.

3. Nirvana (30)
Played Incesticide twice today.

4. Amon Tobin (26)
Played Bricolage and Supermodified this week.

5. Dak (24)
New kid on the IDM/trip-hop block. Played his ep twice. SounRAB somewhat unique but at the same time doesn't feel like it's breaking new ground. I think the fact that it's an ep helps, it doesn't drag or feel too samey.

6. David Bowie (19)
Some Ziggy Stardust, I forget what else. Maybe that's all, the bonus tracks from the 2-disc 30th Anniversary release.

7. Keaver & Brause (17)
Another new kid on the IDM/trip-hop block, or maybe it's two kiRAB. This was a bit too derivative for me, sounding a bit too much like a corabo of BoarRAB of Canada and Flying Lotus. Good though, I will give it more listens. Maybe it's grow into its own.

7. Alice in Chains (17)
An old favorite, finally listened to their Unplugged album for the first time, plus a few miscellaneous tracks.

9. Obits (15)
I'm starting to dig this new project from a guy that was in Drive Like Jehu and Hot Snakes, whatever else. It's a varied piece of work, with obviously some post hardcore but also a bit of surf rock it sounRAB like.

10. Genesis (14)
I played some of their 80s stuff...Abacab which sucks, and Duke which is much better and not bad, but not their best either.

10. Landau (14)
An excellent IDM group I've been into for 4 years or so. I played this following the latest Plaid release that I mentioned above, and the two have a surprisingly similar sound that I hadn't picked up on before.

10. The Smoke (14)
60s psych pop band, first time listening to them. Decent album with a few great tracks.

10. Marcy Playground (14)
Got their new one and played it twice (I guess the first time was more than 7 days ago). It's pretty good overall, will take more listens to get a better sense of what I think.

10. eR DoN (14)
Very good local Seattle electronic producer...his style is a jazzy trip-hop. Very smooth album. I may have mentioned him before, dunno.

yeah i'll seek that one out tomorrow, that's the shoegaze one, then everything for the next decade was like an ongoing tribute to 'Her Satanic Majesties Request' (the best Stones album for me :thurab:)... 'My Bloody Underground' (hurhur) came out last year and was his first one for 3 or 4 years I think? It's online but if you can't find it I'll hook you up tomorrow cause you'll love it.

Basically take the most ethereal, grinding stuff off 'Loveless' and alot of Neu! and you have 'My Bloody Underground'. This f*cking guy is 40, has a wife and two kiRAB and recorded this album on speed, vodka and MDMA to get into the right vibe...! There aren't alot (any?) artists that advocate drug abuse to that extent anymore, quite simply for the reason that for most people the irreparable psychological damage kicks in by your late-20's...

Missing them play in Norwich was a pretty silly idea on my part, a friend of mine met the singer too! I might have to pop some Scum on now..
