Pavement - Wowee Zowee

Definitely the worst Pavement album I've heard. Some decent songs but way too much silly filler. Probably would have enjoyed it a lot more as a teenager though, and maybe with repeat listens I'll appreciate it. Still, could have been a tight album with some fat trimmed.

^there are only a few songs I really like on that album, mainly Omaha (the only one written by Spence incidentally), but then it's been ages since last spin

It's like being transported back 25 years. It's a good thing for me. Retro metal FTW.

Mattafix - Signs Of A struggle

Sorta Poppy with a little bit of hip hop, Reggae and indian influences. Dissapointing. I was hoping for the new Thievery Corporation.

Nas - Illmatic

Because it should really be in my collection.

XTC - Skylarking

I like early XTC but this is a departure in their sound. I'm approaching this with caution.

Did any of you guys catch the recent Prog Britannia documentary on BBC Four? It was really long and just got me listening to prog alot again, not sure but it might still be up on the BBC iPlayer website. Tastefully produced and had some great footage, interviewed everybody; particularly noteworthy was the segment at the end with all the talking heaRAB giving their views on the death of the genre and the rise of punk, they seemed pretty grounded about it.

It pointed out the obvious that had not occurred to me that albums like 'Close the the Edge' were SO far out for 1972 and owed nothing whatsoever to rock n' roll (except the amplified instruments haha) even though all these guys were originally R&B/jazz/beat/psych musicians who loved pop music as much as their classical
