Lark Rise To Candleford Series 3

Schnuki - I'd probably have the equivalent on it's way to me too if I was doing it on company time and on the company computer!! I just caught an episode via YouTube on my cell phone at lunch, so no harm done! :D

Personally I think the change is as much about scheduling priorities and politics as it is about costs. The BBC's income (not affected by commercial realities) is still huge and it seems peculiar that they would give LTC a sideways shove when it has been the bedrock of a tremendously successful alternative to Dancing On Ice on ITV.

Exactly so!

I did wonder if this diktat they seem to have had about reducing the number of "bonnets" in their series has meant that they no longer take this series seriously. thus any pap will do for the viewers still deluded enough to watch.

Well, if 6 million people are still watching, it means that there is a demand for this sort of show - but they do deserve something better than they are getting, or even the feel good factor will not be good enough.

Not every viewer on a Sunday night is brain dead.

Thanks for the reply Daisy chain. Lark rise is it own thing. I think it is coming back for six episodes next year isn't it? Looks great in HD, and it is one the best things the BBC does nowadays! You see the Beeb does some good programmes still.

Lovely episode tonight, that goose was particularly hanRABome, I don't blame Sydney in the slightest for wanting to save it, oh and I see that Pearl became the new goose girl at the end.
Good to see "that other side of herself" shining through.

Another incredible performance by Ruby B. - her face is delightfully expressive, she hardly neeRAB to utter a word sometimes.
I was thinking that Sydney seems to be the only child in Candleford, he has no frienRAB, I'd like to see him enjoying himself at Larkrise with the other children, at least we've seen that he can be a little bit naughty.
Will we ever see Dorcas quite so dirty again?

Lovely to see Hattie, I don't supose she will feature again, who is to help Pearl with the wedding preperations now?
Looking forward to next week, it looks like it's going to be superb.

Liking your work Jen. Keep it coming!

I was never really that involved in the JD storyline and so don't share the same disappointment others on here seem to have with his departure. Don't get me wrong I didn't dislike the character I'm just not convinced that a married Dorcas is more interesting than a single Dorcas.

I like that Dorcas is independent. I think she misses having a family - but I don't think she misses the compromises having a husband would require. And now she's getting the former without the latter!!

Anyway - for me I like the comfort viewing. I like that I pretty much know what to expect and how things will turn out. That's what makes Sunday night viewing for me.

I phoned up the BBC Information helpline and Lark Rise To Candleford, which was due to be broadcast tonight in HD, will now be broadcast on Thursday of this week on BBC HD at 9.00pm. BBC HD EPG for Thursday will no dow'ut be changed.
Ian.

After Doctor Who, LRTC is my next fave drama series. I don't try and spot the faults. I don't worry about whether there's any wrong continuity and I don't care if Emma Timmins has her ears pierced or not. The reason I am writing this is that there are now just five episodes left to go and I am already starting to worry about the dross that will likely replace it. Perhaps the BBC could make it a "Casualty" style show and air it every week of the year. They wouldn't have to have all the characters in it every week. I know this is a pants idea and I will get slated for it on here. But where else, during a dark, cold miserable winter evening can you feel the golden glow of sunlight on your skin? Smile at the singing of Alfie? be amused by Twister and his mischievious antics and appreciate the beautiful English countryside and the delightful folk who live there. With that in mind, i have written a little poem that I want to share with you. Inspired by the scenery of LRTC.

LIFE ON CANVAS

Life is but a painting,
Created from a heart.
Perhaps not quite a masterpiece
But a genuine work of art.
It's coloured by illusions
And the thoughts we leave behind
The picture's put to memory
And framed within the mind.

(There is a second verse but I will keep hold of that!

It is Dorcas' wisdom that inspired these lines. It sort of makes me think that she may read something like that!
Sorry for my over indulgent sentimentality. It's just I don't think there's anything on TV half as good as this programme at the moment and I wanted to express myself!

We have loaRAB of snow...... it's ACE!!!!!!

Welcome Lemming.... your in for a bumpy ride, they are all bonkers in here :D

Aaaaahhhh those were the days  Didn't we have fun getting it completely wrong.

Lav - Hope you had a great New Year, did you get snowed in?

Do you think our tread started will make it back in time for Sunday? She is probably lay in a darkened room..... bet it took it out of her mastering a new skill :p

They definitely don't follow the book because, from what I can remember, one of the characters in the TV series is her aunt in the book or something. They stuck to the book a lot more in the first series than the second anyway, though!

But no, I think at the end of the book Laura leaves the post office for a new job somewhere else. But that can't happen or there'd be no central character!

I vote Dorcus has some kind of romance... that works out! :P
