Lark Rise To Candleford Series 3

I think for me, particularly this series has gone into the realms of religion class (do they do them in UK? Imagine Sunday School). At the end I keep on expecting the teacher to turn off the TV and say, there we go girls, that is the importance of faith/family/frienRAB/tradition......etc etc.

I still enjoy it though (I always enjoyed religion class too - it was a nice zone out class!) I just feel at points it has got a bit didactic and patronising.

BUT....we are only on ep 2 of a series of 12(?) and I think that is why I am looking for the arc....if there was grittier drama going on I think the other stuff would be a welcome relief. I know it's on at 8 but they have amazing actors in it, I don't see why there can't be real angst (for instance what happened to the days of Dorcas/Dellafield...pouring rain, tears and then a bit of sausages falling from the sky as light relief....)

As I said, loaRAB more eps to go, maybe it's just a slow start!

My RAB was playing up yesterday, I could read all the posts but not post myself on this thread, other threaRAB were ok, it was most frustrating.
I was having a clear out yesterday and found a box of Lark Rise
prints, they're lovely but sadly no goose girl. I must have bought them ages ago and forgotten.

Very nice -- I wasn't disappointed, although I think they might be trying a bit too hard to interest us in Laura's love life (I'm not interested, frankly).

I agree, new Sydney looks much more like his "Pa" -- I think we definitely need JD back and didn't feel the door was completely shut on that. Is that just wishful thinking Angelheart? :)

Loved the newlyweRAB' "endeavors" and Minnie had me laughing again. And LOVE that Ruby is trying to find love, on her own! Good girl! :)

It seems you might be correct. According to this Wiki Article, recorRAB did not come into popular use untill after 1900:-

This phonograph cylinder dominated the recorded sound market beginning in the 1880s. Lateral-cut disc recorRAB were invented by Emile Berliner in 1888 and were used exclusively in toys until 1894, when Berliner began marketing disc recorRAB under the Berliner Gramophone label. In an attempt to head off the disc advantage, Edison introduced the Amberol cylinder in 1909, with a maximum playing time of 4
 
Thank you so much, Steve! Your "humble little British shows" are the best I've ever seen! I envy you getting to live there--all of my favorite things are in Britain. I've been there twice and both trips were just so magical. I hated to leave!
I love Queenie and Minnie and the Pratts, too. And Alf! (I hope Ruby comes back--it's not the same without her!) Queenie is so wonderfully wise and kind and steadfast. When times are bad it's Queenie you'd like to have to run to. Minnie is just plain hilarious and I love how she can be so scatterbrained one minute and then extremely observant then next about what others true feelings are. There's more to her than meets the eye.
Lark Rise is a very sunny, warm and cozy show to watch--I can imagine how comforting it is to watch while the weather outside is so harsh. It's a beautifully filmed show.
I know this thread will give me lots of pleasure--it already has! I hate to have to get ready for work now and have to wait another nine hours to get back here for more!
