Lark Rise To Candleford Series 3

i dont watch it on telly
i am 3500 miles away so i have to watch it on my laptop

i notive things because i love this show
dont judge me

another thing that i recently noticed is that whenever dorcas wears rings she always wears them on her middle finger instead of her ring finger

but i think that is more of a julia thing rather than a dorcas thing because she did the same thing in press gang
my theory is julia just has tiny hanRAB :)

Is this a hint or something?
*Off to check credit lists just in case I missed something and we have a clue.* :D:D

EDIT: *rushes back from looking at credit list* no give aways, although there is 1 character listed under epi 12 that I have no clue who it is.

Wow how have I not seen this forum before?? I am going to dive straight in and jump to the defence of who is STILL my favourite character, the loveable Laura! I have been a big fan of the actress who plays her since her role in the amazing sugar rush and feel she really got to shine last night, my favourite episode so far. There is no way you can say Laura is 'cruel', more tense and confused after the arrival of Fisher, her first true love who left her devastated in series 2. I will never forget the scene in which she crumbled in Roberts arms, watched the box set recently and that scene gets me every time. Maybe thats what made the confrontation between Laura and Fisher last night so powerful to me. Her anger and fear of bringing up past feelings was so evident and contrasted perfectly with the scene in the clock tower. It was lovely to see her let her guard down and laugh and almost forget where she was for a time being....TEAM FISHER, there I said it, sorry Daniel.

We should be praising ALL of the cast for making sunday nights so enjoyable. Minnie and Alf are adorable, what a genius coupling! Anyone have news on series 4??? please tell me there are to be more!:)

I was slightly puzzled by the featuring of a gramophone in last night's episode. I was under the impression that LR-C was placed just at the end of the 19thC, whereas AFAIK the gramophone (with discs as against cylinders) didn't come into common use until after WWI. Also the piano quality was almost CD-like rather than that of an early recording (just a tiny bit of scratchiness).

well they had cranford last year so maybe there is hope for this Christmas.....fingers crossed.

I really liked last years...even if I did watch it mid march on my laptop at 2 in the morning and completely freaked myself out!!!

Okay, so did anyone rewatch the first episode of series 1? I'll start: I had forgotten what an incredibly rich episode this was. There was so much undercurrent going on between Dorcas and Sir Timothy. Knowing how the first series enRAB and how much was revealed, it really makes some of the things in episode 1 take on new meaning. For example, in the scene where Laura goes to Sir Timothy to sign her declaration, Timothy says to Laura, "Your eyes are young, Laura, let's hope they never become dim by crying." As Laura leaves she comes upon a crying Lady Adelaide and you think that's what Timothy is referring to. But now I think he wasn't referring to Adelaide at all but to the past when Dorcas had once been crying. After all, Timothy does tell Dorcas later that Laura reminded him of her at that age.
And Dorcas mentions for the first time about "Love rarely crosses the great divide of social class" when telling Laura about Timothy's cousin being in love with a simple farmboy. The look on her face lets you know she isn't just referring to the cousin and her farmboy. (Didn't you just love the way Dorcas describes the farmboy as being "intoxicatingly hanRABome" ?? She practically swoons while saying it. LOL!)
I also loved the changing expressions on Dorcas's face when she is telling Laura about Lady Adelaide and how "we must love her because she is one of us now." She tries to smile while saying it but doesn't quite manage to keep it up. I just wanted to give Dorcas a big hug there.
Oh, I also loved how Timothy was so kind and teasing to Laura when he pretended to be a the stern Squire with her but only because she was standing there "looking so filled with dread." It was both a heart-wrenching episode yet also filled with lots of humor. The writing was brilliant and the acting superb, as always. I liked Laura best in the episode and felt Olivia's acting was spot on with her reactions to her new life in Candleford and the way was she was treated by everyone.
And how cool was it to see Julia's old "Press Gang" pal Paul ReynolRAB as the beer salesman badgering Mrs. Arless? He plays the oily salesman to perfection.
The Pratts were quite nasty in this episode. It's nice to see how their characters have evolved through the series.
I can't tell you how much I loved this episode!!!

Anyone else??

Yep, it was just lacking something for me, this first episode. Didn't take to Daniel much - come back Fisher!..and the Emma inheritance storyline was bleurgh.

Never mind early days..let's see how things develop.

I liked the last one too. I do hope BBC commission another series, I do get sick of some of the rubbish on tv these days, Saturday night is abysmal, but I do look forward to this series and other dramas like Cranford, spooks, hustle etc

Thanks to BBC for this and also to the actors/actresses/staff

Hello - I've not posted in this thread before, but I read it each week and I love, love, love LRTC !

I really enjoyed last night's episode, it was probably my favourite of the series so far. I shed a little tear when Robert was delivering his verdict - I thought he solution was fantastic, I was worried at first that it might be a bit 'militant', but it was perfect.

I love Thomas Brown

Hi all, another lurker poping their head around the door here.

I absolutely loved tonights episode. Wonderful, simply wonderful.

Ohh and Borefest, Enid, (Hattie Morahan ) was in the BBC's adaptation of Sense and Sensibility.

I love reading all your comments on LRTC, and just had to come out of the woodwork for tonights episode.

I'm looking forward to reading what you all thought of it.

Roll on next Sunday!!

Morning Lark Risers, have to agree with you all, a wonderful, wonderful episode, my OH who was working elsewhere in the room asked " why is it all so Golden?"...
I had to explain that life was bathed in a golden haze in those days.

SH I know what you mean about Judi, I truly admire her as an actress so don't let it irk me as much as it could, it's just something about her - but then I couldn't stand Dawn French as Caroline.

Everyone was simply splendid, Margaret and Thomas, the Pratt sisters and Daniel all showing an amazing side to their characters.
Hmm I wonder whether Ruby COULD be the daughter rather than the sister, I think Flora did write something of a similar nature in one of her tales.
If the script writers read our thread ( which I'm sure they do) this may well turn out to be the case in series 4):)

Poor Archie, we will miss him. I feel very sorry for the young actor, I'm sure the rest of the cast will feel his absence too. And now we have Tom Conti to look forward to (swoon) as Mr Reppington - shame he won't be staying

NEXT EPISODE
Dorcas tries to befriend the reclusive Mr Reppington, after noticing that he has spent several months staying at the Golden Lion Hotel - but he is unwilling to change his solitary existence. Daniel discovers the mysterious guest is a famous concert pianist, but Laura urges him not to make the story public. Meanwhile, Minnie is upset when she learns that Pearl is planning to run away. Period drama starring Julia Sawalha, Ben Aldridge and Olivia Hallinan, with a guest appearance by Oscar-nominated actor Tom Conti

PS I SEE WE HAVE A TROLL Resist the temptation to feed it!
