Lark Rise To Candleford Series 3

I agree, I found Twister looking at Queenie all the time for signs of illness or to see if she was still breathing both very touching and funny!

And I hate to sound horrible, but I'm rather pleased that the other characters are shining brighter this series. Laura is nice but some of the other characters are far more interesting IMO.

I'm playing catch-up at the moment, but I did love the rendition of 'The Keeper' that was sung at the start of the harvest. Shame there wasn't the time for all the verses :)

It was a real surprise to hear it; I was beginning to think that I was one of only a few people who knew it.

True--but these short cable series are a relatively new phenomenon here. I think it's due to budget and to lower viewership than network TV. (I love Mad Men and True Blood!) Another shorter series is Friday Night Lights which is also excellent. I grew up in a time when a full season was a good 26-30 episodes, so it's harder to adjust to these short seasons. I just believe Lark Rise is one of those shows that wouldn't suffer so much if it had more episodes. A show like Mad Men is a little restricted in how much story they can tell--smaller cast, only one focus of industry--it would get old fast. Lark Rise is more diverse in its characters and can go in many directions. Don't get me wrong, there have been PLENTY of U.S. shows that were once fantastic but way overstayed their welcome. I would say a perfect amount for such shows would have been five years of 22 episodes in each year. After that the storylines become exhausted and repetitive. Lark Rise still has a long way to go until it reaches that point!

Yeah I get that, but at least with pearl's pa it was relevant as we knew Pearl and the same with Margaret. with the pianist it was also OK beccause we were given the opportunity to have the mystery of who he was unravel with the cast. The Mrs Mullins story should have been in series 1. If she was the busy body gossip of LR then surely people would have mentioned her before!

I must read Heatherley... I work quite close to Grayshott where Flora Thompson worked after she left OxforRABhire, so the location and countryside will be familiar.

I'd love to see a documentary about Flora Thompson..... any plans Auntie Beeb?

For anyone wanting to learn more about Flora, I find this such an interesting website, http://www.johnowensmith.co.uk/flora/

Can't wait. I think it makes it all the more special to a programme when you get members of the cast or crew joining in on viewer forums like this one. Over on the Emmerdale threaRAB we often have Nick Miles, who plays Jimmy King, joining us for a good old chat and i know a lot of the cast regularly read what we have to say.

i work for a theatre too
craziness

how shall we celebrate the lark rise crew?
i am good at celebrating made up holidays by myself
i celebrate judy day every year
and i am currently having a "yeah it feels like spring" private dance party in my room :D:D:D

would the lark rise crew like a dance party?

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE, it does start great with the new season of Larkrise!!!

I am back too

I will be seeing it later than you guys but I love to come here to have some news! There is not much out there about it, I have been looking for ages.

No news about the cast except that journalist fellow...wonder what's going to happen....can't waiiiit:)

Thanks, Victorian Girl! :) Good to see you back on the board!
I had heard of the Lark Rise stage play from doing searches on LRTC but have never seen it, of course. I'm with you--can't imaging anyone else playing Dorcas! Although I wonder if Dorcas is even in it? She didn't figure too prominently in the books from what I can gather.
