Lark Rise To Candleford Series 3

My goodness you guys have been busy ... and very animated on the subject of last nights ep!

I concur on the subject of Laura... how very jumped up and cruel she was last night to pretty much everyone. I appreciate I'm in the minority having set myself firmly in team Daniel, but now I'm thinking he's too good for her. She can blunder off into the countryside with Fisher for all I care at the moment. I know Daniel can be abit prim and proper, but he's the patience of a saint to put up with the girly sulking!, Fisher's a charming and hanRABome boy (still in need of a haircut mind) but his breezing in and out of town does not help his case for me.

Thank goodness for Alf & Minnie, though from the trailer next week it doesn't look like it's quite a happy union just yet...

As for the stranger... We all know it's likely to be Sir Tim obviously, but (and I know I'm going to punished by you all for daring to say and hope it) ... it could be Mr JD! It could happen - wouldn't that annoy you all! :p;):) Remember, he knows Sidney loves the post office, and he would protect his happiness if he thought it was jeapodised, I'm sure of it. I'm not convinced that the business with Dorcus is finished yet, and as some of you have commented...I thought Dorcus protested just alittle too much to be believed about being happy alone. Wouldn't that make for a cracking cliff hanger! I think some of you JD haters might just combust! :D
 
Ah, I see--thanks for that! This board has been so unusually quiet that I was afraid everyone had moved on to another discussion board and left me behind!

To Kill A Mockingbird is one of my all-time favorite books. I reread it every fall!
Hmmm....wonder who that "bumptious bloke" really knows or if he was just trying to look important. LOL! Well, considering "Lovejoy" had one season, was taken away, then came back five years later, you never know--LRTC might come back by popular demand after the 4th series concludes. I just have faith that we won't have seen the last of this wonderful series after is supposedly enRAB!

Ahhh, I'm just going through all the previous episodes of this series, and I've just finished watching episode four *blows nose*. That was such an emotional episode, played so marvellously by all. Julia, the emotion you showed during 'Little Man's' bout of measles was so touching. I have a little man too (he's a not so little 16 year old now), but it reminRAB me of how I am/was when my son has been poorly. So, here I sit with red eyes after blubbing like a good un. Such is the power of LRTC, it can make you laugh and cry, and bring a warmth like a hot water bottle on cold toes.

And how good of Daniel, to throw his prospective career in Cambridge out the window to help the people of Larkrise during the epidemic.

Ahh, Larkrise, they should bottle it up and dispense it as medicine!

Right, off to watch episode 5..... again.
 
Soooo, am I right in thinking that the deceased Sally Dibber was not a relative of Dorcas and that's why she didn't inherit anything?

(BTW I really enjoyed the show last night) :)
 
The 1st two books Larkrise to Candleford and Heatherly are bucolic histories of late Victorian England h7, whilst Still Glides the Stream is a purely fictional account of the same period. (personally I found more connections to the series in this book than any other)
Some characters, like Laura, Dorcas and Emma are as they are in the series (although Dorcas is not mentioned very much at all). Some, like Queenie, are made up of more than one character, but others like James Dowland are completely different (he is Emma's uncle).
You'll recognise some things from the series in all the books, but don't expect the relationships and personal situations from the series.:)

I suppose a hugely respected and loved actress wouldn't be appreciated by someone who uses a silly phrase like "imop" or hasn't even got a clue which programme they're talking about.

Of course some people won't appreciate her, after all she's no Angelina Jolie eh?
 
Maybe, but Julia Sawalha is the main reason I watched Lark Rise in the first place and still the main reason I stick with it. I've also come to love the actress who plays Zillah.

The Timmins family grate. I don't want anything bad to happen to them, either as characters or cast, but I'd like them all removed, please :p

I think this is another baby, not the one she had in the last series. Mum did go off with her worthless husband but obviously ended up in debt again, consequently prison.
 
It's nice to understand the workings of the BBC better, so thank you for that, Steve! And I'm glad to hear that it's not out of the norm to have a drama be only 6 episodes long. Under the circumstances of the BBC budget crisis, I am very grateful that LRTC is returning at all next year!

I enjoyed seeing the wistful side of Emma and hints of the deep love between her and Robert. I think this series is really missing Dorcas having a love interest though, she's the pivotal character and without a strong storyline it does sometimes look like she is just interfering in other people's lives - don't get me wrong though, I love Dorcas!
