Lark Rise To Candleford Series 3

Did anyone else notice Amelia/Cordelia's brown patch was on the left side of her face for most of the episode, but in the scene where she was in close up in the living room, it was on the right side?

Cute dog, although I suspect she'll have disappeared without a trace next series never to be seen again. Like Ruby's kitten :(

When that episode finished I felt like I'd been through a wringer! It was so emotional  Lost count of how many times I filled up, if I'd been by myself I'd have been crying buckets!!

The deathbed scene was so well handled with Queenie telling Alf to let Archie go and constructing a picture for Archie of Alf in the hayfield basking in the sunshine  Lovely :)

It was so affecting to see an unbending character like Thomas finally break down and cry for the brothers and sisters he had lost to measles. It was also good to see some feeling from Pearl Pratt sister. To see her helping nurse the sick in Lark Rise was a minor miracle! At Archie's funeral they were wearing black ribbons on their clothes that the Pratt's must have donated from the ribbon that was left from their 'posh' clients. So the elder Miss Pratt is showing signs that she does have a heart underneath that stiff exterior. The expression on her face when telling Ruby about her bout with measles DID make me wonder if there's more to their story? Is she Ruby's Mum or just a woman who adores her younger sister?

Dorcas's joy at Little Man recovering but her face dropping at the news of Archie's death was very handled IMO. All in one dialogue free scene, just the expressions on their faces.

And please, please make Alf and Minnie fall in love! They are perfect for each other :)

AND am I the only person who is slightly in love with Robert Timmins? :o (even if he does have a bit of a thin skin!)

Has Maggie Steed ever done anything Bad?:D
LRTC, B&B, Shine on Harvey Moon, Pie in the Sky and I'm pretty sure she was in the excellent 1994 production of Martin Chuzzlewit.........:):D

Oh just remembered.............Jam and Jerusalem..........wasn't too keen on that:p

Look on the brightside RG, it's less episodes so if they start filming at the same time as this year, it will be finished earlier and we might get it for christmas:D

PC world ad just came on...........I'm sure it's John Dalgleish.......sounRAB like him:p

So what was the overall verdicts on Series 3?

Personally I thought Episode 1 was the worst ever, purely because of the continuity issue with the Dibber name (nothing to do with the storyline idea or the acting), Episode 4 got things back on track. Episodes 8, 10 and 11 are some of best ever Episodes (along with series2 Ep 10 and Series 1 Ep 10) and all the rest fit somewhere in between.

Overall not the best Series but some of the best episodes.:D.

What will 2011 bring,? I don't think I will look forward to it as much as I did this series, but that's mainly because I now believe all hope is lost with respect to absent frienRAB:D

Anyway thanks AH and all the cast and crew. I may have moaned and groaned about things over the last few weeks, but it's only because I care about the programme:D:D

This was the first episode this season I really fully enjoyed! I made the mistake of coming here and reading reviews before watching, so I was spoiled about Archie, but I still teared up when Queenie was talking to Alf about letting him go. Beautiful acting by all. I've thought it before: they need to have more storylines that involve the kiRAB. They've got some raw talent there. My standout would have to be Martha Murdoch (Ethel).

What with the looming threat of starvation and half the children in Lark Rise deathly ill with measles, that's more drama than the rest of the series put together! I think I like this tack better than all sunshine and roses. Life was hard back then, and basic things like disease, crop blight, and bad weather could easily destroy whole communities. I know it's not realistic, but why not use the dramatic potential real life provides! Certainly better than the all the supernatural stuff we got the last couple of weeks!

Still don't give a fig about the Laura and Daniel relationship, and am tired of there always being the same subplot between Emma and Robert (Emma makes a little joke or offhand comment, Robert's pride is wounded, lather, rinse, repeat. I liked the gray hair plotline...that was so sweet!).

The Browns were thankfully used in moderation. A little goes a long way for me in their department, and Thomas Brown was getting on my last nerve after the first two weeks.

The same cannot be said of Minnie. I never get enough of her! There is not an episode bad or good that cannot be improved with more Minnie!

Sydney is growing on me. Wish they'd stop calling him Little Man though. He was cute with his hair all sweaty and mussed. Looked more like he did when he was in the Yorkshire school, LOL: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QfOtPkCpnkA (0:24, 0:30, 1:23, 1:39, 1:44) The slicked hair does nothing for him, just like it did nothing for his father.

Speaking of which, I've not let go of this bone. I know it could have happened off-screen, and lord knows this episode was busy enough without it, but couldn't they have slipped in a mention of letting Sydney's father know his son was unwell? If James is probably in the habit of reading the newspaper (for stocks and business reasons), which no doubt described the quarantine in effect at the Candleford Post Office. Poor man was probably out of his wits!

Ah well, I'm sure there are plenty of people who watch the show and don't notice that Laura HAS turned into Candleford's courtesan (Ruby called her that back when she was on Philip, and she's had two big public snogs with two different blokes since!), or that Patience and Annie are each about a year younger than they're supposed to be, and Emma's maiden name is supposed to be Lane, but I do notice, ok! But I'd be completely willing to suspend disbelief, if you just acknowledge James! Pretty please? :D

So for the next two weeks we get a guest character-centric plot (Mr. Reppington/Tom Conti and then Old Peg Leg: http://www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice/proginfo/tv/2010/wk7/sun.shtml#sun_lark). That takes us half-way through series three, and still no word on Lady Adelaide returning. I'm starting to worry the Olivia Grant article got it wrong. I'm so looking forward to seeing her again, no matter what the storyline, and if Sir Tim comes along as well, I will just die with excitement. If the writers don't milk Sydney calling Dorcas "Ma" and his Pa being away ("Oh, he's a hanRABome, rich hotelier. Rumor was he was going to ask Miss Lane to marry him. Why do you ask, Sir Tim?") :D

But yes, this week's episode was excellent, and kudos to Harry Miles for an excellent job playing Archie for these past three series. You will be missed!

Guess he's only allowed to work so many hours.........although young Patience is putting in the hours this series..............but then she's probably twins:D:D

Well, what can I say about the final episode this series: LOTS!!!!

Firstly, Angelheart, I have a bone to pick with you!

I am a grown man of 42! But, you made me almost cry!
No, I didn't boo, but i welled up! Your face when all the Lark Rise folk came in to give you support was wonderful. If that isn't acting superbly I don't know what is!

Secondly, this was a wholesome, heart warming episode. There was so much to like and the whole episode was filled with emotion, it tugged at the heart strings and looked absolutely dazzling from start to finish.

The scene where Alfie said to Minnie "I Love You" and she replied "So do I" was fab! The dog was so cute, the knitted coat was sweet. Margaret and Thomas came across as such an endearing and likeable couple and in honesty they are the sort of "nice" people everyone has living opposite them!

I liked the resolution of the Laura/Fisher/Daniel love triangle, beautifully written.

Sunday nights are going to be so dull now. I will miss the entire cast brightening up my life for an hour each week.

To think that this wonderful series will only consist of 6 episodes next year! Still, I am already looking forward to it!

Angelheart, thanks for giving us all our one true weakness for the last 12 weeks!

The only good thing about the series ending is that it confirms that "IT'S NEARLY SUMMER!!!!"

Well if it weren't for the costume department doing everything in their power to keep us warm..hey, it's let's celebrate the LARKRISE CREW night! :)
