Lark Rise To Candleford Series 3

To all you JD lover
it is no secret that i am not the biggest JD/Dorcas fan
and i want to tell you all why before the new series starts

Dorcas was in love with Sir Tim since she was a girl
she grew up with he and they were best frienRAB
and although she didnt marry him she continued to love him because "first love" run deep

JD and Mr.Delafield was her trying to move on because she knew that loving a man that she couldnt be with was unhealthy
after mr delfield left she was right back to where she started and i feel that even though we didnt see sir tim of any implications of her feelings that maybe she isnt quite over him

it was painfully obvious the whole series that JD cared for her alot more that she cared for him
it almost seemed that she had to force herself to be with him

i honestly think that is dorcas were to have stayed together with JD then she would have been settling

lets hope that in this series she can find someone to love her as much as she loves them

:D

I have lent my DVD series 1 to a work colleague as I am trying to convert the masses into Lark Rise fans like a Christian Crusader from the dark ages!

She is hoping to have them all watched by this coming weekend and as its Easter this week I have to do all the dutiful family gatherings on Sunday! I hate family gatherings at the best of times: judgements, criticisms, arguments, screaming kiRAB, crap TV choices! Oh, why do we have to endure such things!

Is Easter a big deal in the states? We have a four day break here! Starts on Good Friday and enRAB on Easter Monday!

So, shall we start our series review NEXT Monday (5th April) and then start having the discussion the following Sunday! It'll be like the series never ended, and it will give more people the chance to come on board.

To anyone reading and want to join in, we are going to review
SERIES 1 EPISODE 1:
Hope you don't mind the slight postponement Sherry!

I haven't seen Gilmore Girls although i have heard of it. The thing is a lot of American programmes are hidden away on obscure satellite channels. What is it about?

Anyway, catch up later, i'm going to get dressed! It's getting too late to sit around in my dressing gown on my day off!

Thank you for letting us know, Julia! Don't worry, I'm not disappointed. I knew Sir Tim coming back was a real long shot anyway. It was just fun to speculate.
No worries--we won't tell anyone! :)

Thanks for the fab article transcripts Kyrsten and to others for the You Tube and interview links. :D

I can't wait for Sunday and series three though am a little disappointed to hear about the lack of a grown-up love interest for Dorcas this series not least because this seems to indicate a James Dowland no-show.

And where does that leave us with a Lady Adelaide and hopefully Sir Timothy return? There's no mention of either of these characters in the info about the first three episodes - most frustrating!

On a rather different note my husband was wondering whether LRTC fans have a name. You know like Star Trek fans are Trekkies, X Files followers are X Philes and Richard Armitage has his Army.

Is there a name for LRTC fans already? And if not, what do you reckon it should be?

No problem--we will start our series 1 episode 1 discussion on April 5! I hope your colleague likes the show!
The only people who get a holiday for Easter are students, who have this whole week off from school. My sister will have my parents, brother and I over for Easter dinner this Sunday. None of us has children so at least we don't have to endure screaming kiRAB!
Gilmore Girls is about a mother and her teenage daughter living in the small town of Starshollow, Connecticut. Check out the cast here:

Hey, you said you loved The Waltons. On Gilmore Girls, the main character, Lorelai, eventually opens her own inn--the inn being the original Waltons house! I about fell over when I saw it again in the show. :)
Enjoy your day off! I'm jealous having to slog off to work soon! ;)

Fantastic so far, my wife and I are really enjoying it.

The scene in the church with Robert and Thomas plus children had my wife in stitches.

Apparently I am her version of Robert.

She wanted to know if I had been giving the script writers any assistance!!

blarneygirl, you need to get a multi-region DVD player so you can buy the British release of LRTC from Amazon.co.uk!! That way you can watch them on your a lot sooner. :D The regular Amazon.com sells multi-region players pretty cheap.
I love mine!

I love Minnie, too, but I still really miss Zillah. She was such a great character! Plus, she'd known Dorcas all her life--it would have been nice to have more episodes with her revealing more about what Dorcas was like in the past.

I really enjoyed last nights episode of LRtC. It was fantastically acted by all the cast. I too will admit to being reduced to tears at many points. I look forward to the rest of the series :)

Brilliant news. Now there's something worth waiting for again on television. Should we petition the writing team to give us a Christmas special like they do for Cranford which could then form the start of each new season?

I sort of expected more from that episode than it delivered.:(
All that fawning over Lady A was beginning to get on my wick..........but as ever Minnie saved the day, with her excitement over her new responsibilities and thinking Dorcas was 'peculiar'........wonderful:D:D

I love this thread and I love Julia coming in. I just wanted to chip in and let her know that I never fault LTC. I guess all this lighting etc. you are discussing is really enlightening

Thank-you btw to L7 before for answering my question, Krysten, loose women I think is the Uk version of the view in the states and hello is a celeb mag.

Somebody said earlier that the actress who plays Laura said there was a tradgedy  Maybe its something that happens that makes Sir Tim and Lady Adelaide come back to Candleford?

Think she's done a bunk and they've gone wild, judging by yesterday's episode! Lots of nice little story lines - loved Thomas buying woolly underwear for Margaret - I was preparing for something a little more racy when we first saw the box...

Don't want to spoil it for anyone who's not seen it yet but anyone else think that Hattie's story line was meant to mirror what Dorcas might have felt like if she'd married Sir T? (Come back JD;))

One small gripe (you know me!!) the jacket from the trouser suit didn't look very 'free from corsets' - or am I just jealous??.:D

PS Welcome newbies!
