Lark Rise To Candleford Series 3

Welcome :)
On this point at least I have to disagree. He wanted to marry Dorcas! I understood it was her who turned him down.
If anyone was the victim in the situation it was the poor Lady Adelade, who met and fell for someone, married them and then discovered that his heart was with someone else. Not someone distant who he could get over, but his closest friend. It must have been soul destroying to watch him go off for his rides every day, knowing he was with Dorcas, that he would rather be with Dorcas.
I think she knew she could never measure up to his love for Dorcas and that is why she often seemed petulant and awful. Not because she was by nature that way, but her life with Sir Tim was one of constant rejection.

I truly felt for her and I think that being stuck in an awful circumstance, she maintained her dignity as best she could.

I think that in that circumstance, Dorcas and Sir Tim may not have had a physical affair, but he may as well have because emotionally, he was never true to his wife. :(

Well, get a flight to England for next week and stay with me for a holiday and watch the last couple of episodes live! You would be more than welcome!

I enjoyed the episode tonight but I did miss Lark Rise. Quite strange for it to be purely set in Candleford, but it was interesting none the less. I loved that Pearl finally let her guard down.

Oh, cool! I'm so glad you're enjoying it!

Basically, when Lady A. asked Dorcas why she refused Timothy, Dorcas said that she had convinced herself it was because of what her father had said about marrying outside of one's class. But it really wasn't for that reason, it was because "something was missing" in their relationship and now she had found what was missing by adopting a child. My jaw dropped on the floor when she said that as it's totally inconsistant with the love she felt for him all during the first series. And she could have had a child with Timothy, if that's all she was after! Too bizarre for me. I figured she just made that up to make Lady A. go back to Timothy so he would be happy again.

In fact, the more I think about it, I'm sure she was lying with what she was saying. That might be the purpose of D. asking Lady A. what Timothy's face looked like when Adelaide told him about her affair. She was waiting to hear her answer before giving her her's.

Oh, and I saw an interview with Julia where they showed a clip from this episode--it's the scene where Dorcas is saying what a "true gift" Adelaide was to Timothy (gag!). The interviewer reacted to it like, "I don't think so!!" and Julia laughed and said, "Well, sometimes you have to fake it to make it." That gave me hope that it was indeed a lie. LOL!!

I could see them serializing it to tie off loose enRAB. I've never read the books, but I imagine that Laura and Daniel's wedding preparations could fill up an episode or two, Ruby coming back, we'll see Sir Timothy and Lady Adelaide with their kid, Alf and Minnie, JD coming back to see Sidney and maybe rekindle something with Dorcas now that she's had a whole season to cool off. But, I could also see Dorcas just staying single. We'll find out if Thomas and Margaret are ever able to have a child. As for someone dying, though. Hmmmm...Twister maybe? If it's anyone like Dorcas, Laura, Daniel, etc., the BBC is going to have to come up with a REALLY good reason for it not to **ss-off millions of fans!!

From everything I've read, season 4 shooting wrapped up in June. Anyone know when it's being shown over in the UK?

9-10 million watch Eastenders. Does not necessarily mean that it is good. Numbers per se are meaningless.

My quibble with this is that it is now a far cry from the quality of Series 1. In other worRAB, like someone said on the BBC Messageboard, it is becoming a soap with bonnets.
Ah well, I shall cling to the memories of what I loved.

Blimey if I'd known it was going to bring you all out of the woodwork I'd have started it earlier.............well once SS had showed me how:D:D

8pm BBC1 Sunday 10th for those who were asking

I'm going to be controversial and say the tragedy Olivia Hallinan was talking about in her interview was the death of Sir Tim.............that'll kill that romance stone dead:D:D

Sorry K:p

(or maybe it's JD:eek:)

(probably Twister tho:cry::cry::cry:)

Phew! Thank you, thank you, thank you angelheart for clearing the mess up! The troubling questions filled me with so much unrest I almost couldn't sleep! Well... not quite ;)

Oh, and a ps: it doesn't look ridiculous - at daytime and without frizz-ease it just might - but not now ;) , more... as I wrote in a previous post... enviable. (Gosh I miss my long hair) ;)

i think the must have gotten someone different doing the hair this series because the women are starting to let their hair down (literally)
occasionally you would see laura or minnie
but this series you have seen emma and next week they are showing dorcas with her hair down

just something i noticed:D:D

Newbe here!! Anyone mind if I join in? Found the forum by accident recently and love the posts. Just finished watching Series 3 again. Would love to join in the Series 1 re-watches! What episode are you upto?

Six episodes........strange........could that be the death knell or maybe just waiting to see how the land lies viewer wise after this series?
Always said Series 4 should be the last tho:)

AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

WW you're making me quite ill
Go and wash your mouth out with soap (no pun intended):D:D

Are you sure GG, they haven't managed it in 7 this Series:p

The wife and I were amazed it took so long for people to think it could have been someone up at the big house (as it were). It seemed the most likely explanation almost immediately.

Though we had no idea what big house they were talking about. Has that family ever been mentioned before or were they the (non-appearing) guest of the week?

Hello all.
I only discovered Lark Rise over this Christmas. I just completed both Seasons from my Christmas gifts and am now very keen for the start of the new season. I have been completely absorbed and once started watched 2 Seasons in a week! :D

Welcome, Schnuki! We haven't really discussed the series 1 episodes just yet. Everyone seems to have either disappeared or aren't wanting to join in with the episode discussions just yet. I just posted my observations on series 1 episode 1 so far. Hope you'll jump in, too! :) --Sherry
