Hi, hope y'all can help here.

I'm a truck driver and a few weeks back, I took a run straight through. A 10.5 hour drive, non-stop. When I got there, I realized that I had pinched up some skin in my jeans or something. I had a large soar area on my waist line, toward my left side but not all the way to the hip bone. Now, I'm not sure if I pinched the skin in my jeans or not. I'm just guessing I did because it wasn't long after I got out of the truck, it started to hurt pretty good.

Two weeks or so have gone by and it hasn't gotten any better at all. The top layers of skin have flaked off and it has stayed either red or purple and is swollen and quite painful. It's size is about is about 1.5 inches long and .75 inches tall and is raised (swollen) about .5 inches. I figured it would go away but it hasn't and what's more is that a new area has developed. It also is on my belt line but is closer to my center. The new spot is longer than the first but is not nearly as large, discolored or painful as the first one. I just discovered it tonight and shortly afterward, I discovered that it was draining some kind of fluid. The first one may have also drained fluid but if it did, I didn't realize it. But it used to have a small scab on the left side of it.

I haven't been doing much driving since this started. Just for a couple of days afterward and since then I've been home. At times, it has been so sensitive that I couldn't wear underwear because the "stretchy" part would fall right on it and irritate the fire out of it.

BTW-The best description of the pain I can offer is that it feels like a road rash, kind of thing. As if I had road rash and accidentally rubbed it across something. You know?

Anyhow, that is the best description I can offer. I called the hospital but all they would tell me is that I needed to come in but I'm uninsured and I can't afford to go to the hospital unless I have a real good reason.

I did some research on the internet and it sounds "sort of" like a bed sore or pressure sore but there doesn't seem to be any indication, at least not yet, that a gaping hole is about to open up. And they make no mention of the outer layer of skin peeling away from a bedsore. So, I don't know

Thanks for any help anyone can offer. I really can't afford a trip to the hospital.

I don't know what's going on, It's actually getting worse. I've used the powder but even though I thought it was having an effect, it hasn't.

In fact, the first large sore has burst and spewed out a lot of crap and has been bleeding now for two days and although it is now flat against the body, there has been no reduction in pain from it and it remains a deep purple.

The second sore is growing in size, fairly rapidly now. And it turns out that it does not follow my belt line, exactly. The second sore is much larger than the first one and actually runs from the base of my penis, up to my belt line, toward the left side of my body. It is smallest in size near the base of my penis and gets larger as it goes up. It started out as a hard spot with minor pain but as it grows, the hardness is worsening and the pain is vastly increasing. It also is starting to turn colors, bypassing red altogether and is going straight to purple, itself.

I've hunted and hunted the medical pages on the internet and I can't find anything even close to what these things look like. And the idea that they were caused by being pinched in my jeans is now out the window because of how the second is located.

All I know is that I don't have medical insurance. I can't afford this.........

I know with no health insurance you hate seeing a doc. But as it is getting much worse its best to see a doc now before it gets even worse as it will lead to more expense..I would go to the er today..

Unfortunately, you really need to go to a doctor. It sounds like an infection of some sort such as impetigo or a staph infection. If you are not careful it can go into your blood stream and even if it doesn't you can do some real damage to yourself without antibiotics. Until you can see the doctor, I would wash it with phisoderm and put neosporin on it and cover it in gauze.

I am sorry you are in such a bad way :(

I get those red sores also, had my Dr. check it out,its kind of like a heat rash you see your pants after so long can cause heat in that area its rubbing against your skin constantly and causes the sores if that makes since...Try some kind of medicated powder, like gold bond powder..dust the area real well and I would consider doing this after you have dried off in the shower and since you have a sedetary job for the most part I would continue doing this even after it heals up.... Kind of a permanent deal like putting on deodrant is...Hope this helps :)

Well, I'm not so sure now. I went and read about heat rashes but the descriptions don't quite sound like this. Unless this is just some kind of severe form that they aren't addressing.

Yeah, alright. Y'all are right. I need to go to the doctor. Especially since come Monday, I'm back out on the road again and I'm not planing on coming home for a couple of months.

Thanks, y'all. I hate to give up but I'm at a loss here. I'll call the local hospital and find out what they can do for me.

Yes I totally agree my friend, sorry my advice didnt help sounds like it could be some sort of staph(MRSA) you tried, butgo to the ER they CANNOT refuse you!!!! Dont put it off...Let me know what they say Ginger

Hi, this may be a bit of a long shot, but is this a new belt? It is possible that it is a "contact dermatitis", you could be allergic to the belt, and your scratching could have caused it to be infected. So try an stop wearing the belt and also ask a pharmacist for a topical drug for "contact dermatitis" and cloxaclillin. (Really need to see it though, u should visit a Dr.)

Another very high possiblility is, that it could be Herpes(it can show up many years after contracting the disease) or shingles. Herbes causes blisters which break to release fluid. Very painful. Unfortunately no cure but acyclivoir may help. Again your problem needs to be seen as well for a definitive diagnosis
