Laptop wont turn on - Light on charger flashes but will not charge the laptop. Plz help?

I have a NEC laptop that i bought about two years ago. It has been working perfectly up until now because the light on the charger for the laptop just flashes. Normally it stays a solid green. If anyone can help, thx.I took out the battery, did nothing though.Also, the charger light is a strong green when it is not connected to the laptop but as soon as it is connected the charger light begins to flash. It has never done this before. If anyone can help thx heaps
