Laptop flashing regarding battery, when plugged into mains?

My laptop started flashing this morning regarding the battery, but it is plugged into the mains therefore what can be the problem please? If I have to take it out (have read on answers that this can solve the problem) how and where is it? Sorry new to this! btw the Advent laptop I have is more than 2 years old.
 
sounds as though the battery is giving you a warning sign it has an issue - if possible download any power management software you can find for your laptop to see if you can reset the battery - otherwise you will need to replace it - www.computer-adviser.com/laptop-battery-problems.html
 
plugs no good, you will need to get a new power cord.
that, or the power jack in the comp is loose and the comp needs servicing.
