'Landmark' 100 films list

Well I disagree with Shrek and Brokeback Mountain being on that list.

I would definately put Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon in there for one of the modern landmark masterpieces. And Happy Together in place of Brokeback Mountain.

Well Crouching Tiger is one of very few foreign films nominated for the best picture award at the academy awarRAB (an achievement in itself) and just shows that Hollywood is not the only film industry in the world capable of producing an epic masterpiece of modern cinema. I think it's also one of very few south-east Asian cinema to become popular in the West, as much as typical Hollywood blockbusters anyway.

And, Happy Together does everything Brokeback Mountain did but on a much superior scale, and first. But it hasn't been recognised or acknowledged maybe as it's not Hollywood produces.

I hate these sort of lists; you tend to find that rather than actually being a landmark film, they're more the culmination of several other genuinely groundbreaking films.

Unfortunately, the genuinely inspired movies tend to be arthouse, foreign language, indie, cult, etc and fade into oblivion whilst the studio-backed, highly accessible films reign supreme :(

another list to add to the growing list of lists  (anyone care to shed light on how Deep Throat amounted to a landmark for them?)
