Anyone been to see this yet, heard it's number 3 in the UK charts? Fancy going to see it tomorrow but at the moment it's between this or Wolf Creek, massive zombie fan though :-)

I've heard that Wolf Creek is a bit of a disappointment.

I'm hoping to go see Land Of The Dead this weekend if I can talk my g/f into going to see it with me - she wasn't keen on the Dawn Of The Dead remake ("too gory") and she hasn't seen any of the original trilogy so I might go see it on my own instead.

Well Land of The Dead is still pretty gory. Though Wolf creek and Land of the Dead are both horrors, I'd say they are significantly different. Wolf creek is one that you need to lend yourself to the story.

Its slower to build up but it horrific near the end. Land of the Dead is clearly less psychological, more gory and involves slightly less though. I think WOlf creek is a better more intelligent movie, but Land of The Dead is more "fun"

Land of the Dead is perhaps not as cutting in satire terms as it predecessors, and slightly more formulaic. however it still ok, as long as you ignore Dennis Hopper's overt the top city boss

If you get annoyed by characters in horror films WHO ARE BLATENTLY STUPID, you will have an aneurism watching Wolf Creek. It is, IMO, very very bad. We're talking Chronicles-of-Riddick-Bad.

I've seen both now and I recommend you miss Wolfcreek and go see Land of the Dead. Imo Land of the Dead isn't as good as the past trilogy but it's still a welcome addition to me.

Gory enough that you'll wonder how on earth it got a 15.

Saw it on the FilmFour night with Shaun of the Dead, great fun. Being a fan of the original 3 I was ready to be let down, but it was very enjoyable.

Went to see land of the dead at the Edinburgh film festival in august & land of the dead was brilliant & there was even a director intro by none other than the man himself george a romero talking about how he didnt do a zombie movie in the 90's & why.

As for land of the dead being gory i wouldnt say it's like the others but its bloody enough to warent it's 15 cert now saying that i do know of an unrated & uncut version of the movie coming out on dvd. :D

I really enjoyed Land of the Dead ... it was gory but also very tongue in cheek. Its a no-brainer film, and sometimes you need that amongst all the "think outside the box" films.

I really hated Wolf Creek, the trailer purported it to be SO much more than it was, IMO it wasnt scary, it was just... pointless

Like i said above, its already been confirmed there will be no extra gore in the Unrated version.

Also the reason this was a 15 was because it looked very fake, upto Dawn Of The Dead it looked like a Comedy Horror ;)

The Guts etc were pretty damn funny to see being ripped apart and you could tell they were not very well made.

Went to see Land last night and thought it was really good, enoyable 'no brainer', the gore was fun as opposed to extreme, almost comic book violence that most people in the cinema laughed at when each new way to kill someone appeared on screen!

Not a bad film, recommended if you like horror with a smile on it's face.

I also went to see LOTD last night. I laughed out loud (not least of which at the hand grenade/meat cleaver death - genius, and the bellybutton ring ripping), and completely agree with the above quote. Plus, in a demonstration that you can have a homage/parody which is later paid homage to in the thing it was initially parodying, it has Simon Pegg and Nick Frost (star and director or Shaun of the Dead) cameoing in the movie. Odd.

Big dumb zombie fun, with tongue planted firmly in cheek.
