Land of the Dead Unrated Version

On the US DVD release of Land of the Dead an unrated edition is being released with what looks like 40 minutes of extra film.

Does anyone know what extra has been added because in the Jonathan Ross review of the cinema release on Film 2005 he did say that this version has a lot of gore but is a bit short, so that would imply to me that the unrated version does not just have violent parts added in but also a lot of story.

I am a massive George A. Romero fan but I have not seen the film yet as it is not out until tomorrow here in the UK, so does anyone that has seen the film think it would be improved by the extra footage or are they just milking the unrated DVD thing for sales.

R1 Land of the Dead (Widescreen) (Unrated)

Amazon USA says the unrated version runs for 97 minutes, whereas the original runs for 93.

The extra 4-5 minutes just adRAB character depth and backstory, according to chat on the the IMDB boarRAB.

There was a rough cut of "Dawn of the dead" that ran for 137 (or 142) minutes, but it was subsequently edited down before its main release.

I read (via a Romero interview somewhere) that the Unrated Cut was going to be far gorier than the cinema release. Be a bit disappointed if it isn't! :(

Think Play.com are getting confused and have substituted 137 minutes for what should be 1 hour 37 minutes.

I'm looking forward to 'LOTD' but one thing keeps puzzling me: A Romero zombie movie with a '15' certificate?! Is the new movie less gory than the one's of old, or are the BBFC just more easy-going on gore nowadays?

*'smilie art'-in 'general discussion' now!

I've seen it and I think it is less gorey, although there are still some inventive decapitations and flesh ripping (i loved the zombie getting electrocuted on the fence). Not the best of the series though :(
