Laika Mostly Gives CGI the Chopping Block

I wish them the best of luck. Stop-motion is an incredibly long and painstaking process compared to CGI, so they better be sure they can produce some high quality stuff that'll bring in a fair amount of money.

God, look at the replies in this thread. Nothing can please you guys can it?
I think this is great news and it will help bring the art back to animation.

I personally enjoy claymation and stop-motion animation because of the sheer effort that has to go into each frame, especially if it is animated well. Laika has my respect for trying to succeed with stop-motion.

That being said, Dreamworks and Pixar always seem to be needing more CGI animators so I'm sure they'll be picked up by them eventually.

With Disney returning to hand-drawn films and Studio Ghibli continuing to become more prominent it seems that every animation style will be satisfied in the movie theater for the next few years.

On TV, yeah, it's looking pretty bleak but this news has nothing to do with that.
