Lag in bioshock 2 xbox multiplayer read description?

well, it had been fine for quite a long time and then 1 game i was in was extremely laggy and unplayable, i thought well its just the server, but then i kept going to loads of different servers and had the same unplayable lag on all, what the hell made it tick, tried everything i can think of
