My back and sciatic pain seems to increase, when I am getting my period.
The days before I have more pain, and then when the cramps come, more back/leg pain again.
It this just me?
THX:-)

HI,
No you are not alone by far. Mine increased after fusion surgeries. My spine dr. says that about half of his women patients are like that and he can't really blame it on one specific thing. He thinks it may be the inflamation and water retention that causes the problems since I have hardware it meks it worse with more pressure on it.

I'm sorry your in more pain with this I know how you feel. I pray for menapause to come quickly, lol.

Good Luck

God Bless

Thank you sooo much for posting this! I have this problem and I tell you mentstration pain and that pain together is too much to bear. My back does hurt alot worse during that time, but I never understood why.

lol, I say that to my doctor all the time and she gives me the strangest look. I am glad you all understand.

Ladies, thank you for all your replies!
My pain is so much worse, before and during my period!
I quite often think, wow just as I was feeling a bit better -BAM, did I relapse.
Good to know, I'm not crazy or alone in this....

After I had my lurabar fusion I found that I was more affected by things like monthly period backaches, cramps, etc. It just seemed to trigger a bit more pain in the back then I had pre-surgically.

Hi there. This is a common occurrence for us ladies. Everything is so darn close down there and the extra swelling.. puts more pressure on everything and also if you retain water at all.. makes things worse also. PLUS, if you are one that craves the sweets and answer the craving.. sugar intake also causes swelling and that will make things worse also.

Yep, I definitely have increased pain in my legs and back during my period and just before my period. Sometimes I think I should have had a hysterectomy instead of a fusion.

Amen to that. They should offer a 2-for-1 deal - fusion and hysterectomy so the back pain you feel won't increase with the monthly cycle.
