Ladies: I really don't understand why chemistry in relationships is so important?

OK, I admit this question may be sound a little silly or that I may sound naive for even asking, but I honestly don't understand why exactly people (both girls and guys) place so much critical emphasis on the need for chemistry in relationships. When I personally like a girl romantically, to me chemistry is almost totally irrelevant -- what's important to me is if she a nice, kind, caring person, someone who is mature emotionally, and is willing to give me a genuine chance at trying to win her heart, aiming towards building toward a lasting relationship. If she meets those personality characteristics, chemistry doesn't even matter for me, since it's virtually guaranteed that I will be attracted to her automatically on those qualities alone.

Not sure why some people will rule people out based on just chemistry alone, even if all the other criteria are met for them? I mean, as a possible theoretical alternative, couldn't someone also be more likely to "feel" some chemistry over time in getting to know a person and giving them a chance, rather than rejecting someone right away based on their immediate feelings of chemistry?

Most people don't just have a list of criteria like that.

Most people basically go by whether they feel attracted or not.

It would be weird hooking up with someone because they ticked all the right boxes on a list, but I had no feelings for. Kinda like a robot or something.

i think that feeling of chemistry is critical in whether or not you like even being around a person if there is none than there has to be a good reason why. The reason is probably something about you they don't like. And also isn't it easier to start any relationship with anyone if theres something that clicks even with your friends. theres something there that draws you to them and theres no conflict it just flows like good chemistry. If the chemicals mix well in a solution than its amazing what comes out but if not it's dangerous and exploxsive. and that is my hippy rant of the day.
