Ladies and Gentlemen, a Question:

The BeeGees? Blech! I'm with you there, but disco is just fun, and while I certainly LOVE funk, It's not really an apt substitute. I think Disco gets bad rap there was a lot of innovative music being produced as the backdrop to the whole pop culture craze that was playing out.

Yay! They make me feel good inside. It reminRAB me of when I used to live at home and my parents would be playing it while we had the fire going while reading.

It's a compliment. It means we have a new meraber of our forum who expresses themself intelligently and thoughtfully. A rarity among "noobs" (new people) on this forum.

Ah, thank you then. I know what a noob is, but i thought i felt some sarcasm (seems i was wrong).^^
Anyways sorry for going off-topic...

I think I just went through this thread without seeing Donna Summer's Bad Girls being mentioned- very much recommended for anyone who has yet to 'get' disco. I also wonder whether "Our Love" has been mixed with New Order's "Blue Monday"...

Cooooooooool.

Loves me some hammer time, I'm two legit to quit it.

You missed my point.

Judging music based on its popularity level, regardless of what it actually sounRAB like, is ignorant.
If we only steered toward what's either unpopular, or popular, without taking the actual music itself into account, then we're being led by an expectation; not a genuine interest.
I understand the need to generalize to some degree, but if we limit ourselves too much (and I'm not just talking about disco here) then we miss out on opportunities to develop our own appreciation of what's out there.

That's what I was trying to say.

Ah, then sorry! Now i got what you mean. I fully agree to not prejudice music just based on popularity.
Just to be clear on this one, i wasn't bashing disco because it's popular but because from all the stuff i have personally heard, i didn't like any.
