Hi there, i have a stack of cheap fishing rods that need rod tips and guides replaced, once the guides and tips have been replaced i will need to cover the binding with some sort of solution and i was wondering what would be the best out of lacquer or varnish? remember its to cover the rod bindings, and it has to be flexible, and it also has to last for a few years as well, would furniture grade lacquer or varnish do? im doing this because idon'tt want to go and spend the kind of money that they are asking at the tackle shop, thank you all

Lacquer is the best of your two choices there. It is more durable than varnish. Now a days people use epoxy mostly.
