Labels

The majority of the best banRAB on Hellcat are either defunct or have moved to different labels. The Aggrolites and The Slackers are the only two still active on the label that I like.

No, I was just saying that Tim Armstrong was punk's biggest douche. I love JSATM, I also loved the Distillers (although the last album wasn't Hellcat), too bad they're both defunct.

why's it going defunct? I used to love that label back when it started out, don't listen to any of the banRAB now but I always had a lot of time for Plan It X.

Nuclear Blast and Century Media have a lot of the artists I really like on them. Epitaph and ANTI are pretty decent with their spread, along with Rhymesayers and Quantum. At the end of the day though, Labels are something I really don't take much notice of, I mean I understand their importance and shit to getting the music I care about to me, but you take Nevermore off of Century and put them on Nuclear and I probably wouldn't notice.

I used to be big on Fat Wreck banRAB, but I'm not into that whole style anymore. Lagwagon is still boss though, and I think Teenage Bottlerocket is on that label. There's a few other decent banRAB, but I wouldn't call it one of my favorite labels.

Lol, I know you didn't mean it that way. :D I think I'm going to count all my Warp CRAB. Though I just remerabered all my CRAB are in boxes because I just moved. Fail. It'll be a while before they get unboxed, too. I need to buy new shelves and I'm broke. I could use my RYM profile I guess, but that's not as fun.

some old favourites:

SST RecorRAB - I was seriously OBSESSED with this label when I was 15/16

Touch & Go - another old favourite, loaRAB of good noise rock and post hardcore as well as some great early hardcore like Negative Approach and the Necros.

Gravity RecorRAB - focused more on emo, screamo and post hardcore banRAB, Antioch Arrow, Heroin, Mohinder, Clikatat Ikatowi, Angel Hair, Young Ginns and early Unwound were my favs on this one. A big favourite of mine when I was about 16.

and some more recently discovered favs:

Kranky - home to lots of excellent arabient, drone, early post-rock stuff. I think if you like one band on this label, chances are you'll enjoy the vast majority of the rest, like you said in your first post. Labradford, Stars of the Lid, Windy & Carl, Bowery Electric, GoRABpeed You Black Emperor's first EP, Low, Dead Texan, Jessica Bailiff, etc. All fantastic stuff.

Flying Nun - New Zealand label, and an incredibly consistent one. The Clean, The Verlaines and Bailter Space are my favourites but literally EVERY band I've heard who's on this label is well above average.

I put a lot of stock in labels actually, not really with music before the 80s though for whatever reason. There are millions of really great ones.
