La Jetਥ

Has anyone watched this French film from the 60s?

As much as I can make out (and a quick look on imdb has confirmed it!), it would appear to be what Twelve Monkeys was based on.

The photography all the way through is absolutely mesmerising.. it really conveys how someone from the future would see the past, i.e. as something beautiful and lost, but still tinged with the mire and murk of knowing what's going to happen to the planet.

It is what influenced the director of Twelve Monkeys yes, I would rather watch Twelve Monkeys over and over though, but still enjoyed La Jetee as a once watch.

I was told about La Jetee, and advised to watch it without any clocks visible, and no wrist watch on.
It sounRAB wierd, but the way it's filmed makes you (the viewer) experience time slightly differently.
Just make a note of what time it is when you start watching and ignore all urges to see what time it is now while watching, until it's finished.

It's odd :)

Oh totally.. I think it's because you're trying to construct a moving film in your head from all the stills; it appears to create the illusion of being a lot longer than it is.
