I am 26 years old. I had spondylolisthesis and a degenerative disc at L5-S1. Most of my pain was on the left side and central back. I had the AxiaLIF done on 1/12/09. I felt OK for the first couple of months, but my left side and left butt were hurting after that and the center of my back felt unstable. The CT scan 5 months later revealed that the left pedicle screw was intersecting the L45 joint which was causing pain on the left while the L5-S1 space was not fusing around the central screw. I had the left pedicle screw removed on 9/8/09 and BMP placed on the left to try to induce a fusion on the left side. I am wearing a bone stimulator to help the left and center fuse. I am still having similar pains. It seems that I will need to get the center fused for any relief. Has anyone here had pains on the left or right side, but when the center fused, they had relief from the pain? One doctor told me that with the central screw in at L5-S1 instability is not a problem. Could the pain be from the movement on the left and right side?
