Definitely not for 10 year olRAB!
I'm umming and ahhing about wether to buy this or not.
It's a good film and a step in the right direction for British crime films. Apart from one character, nobody in this film is a braying gangster wannabe prone to tortuous 5-minute speeches full of meaningless Cockney dialogue. There are several actors in this film who would hopefully have not been seen dead in anything like Snatch or Lock,Stock.. like Michael Gambon and Daniel Craig for instance.
At the end of the day, though, it's still more about crime than it is about people. The plot is all about a stolen consignment of E's and who buys and sells them and so on, and it's all resolved by the various factions crashing into each other and double-crossing each other and so on until someone comes out on top, pretty much like Snatch and Lock, Stock.
A film like Sexy Beast was all about people. The crime they commit in Sexy Beast is almost incidental. If Layer Cake had had a similar kind of focus it would have been a fantastic film, imo.
